Classroom Mastery

Our Classroom Mastery work has drawn significant attention this term, with visits from the DET Regional Team, Dr Jenny Donovan from AERO, and multiple schools booking in to observe our practice in action. These visits have highlighted the strength of our instructional routines and the confidence of our students and staff.

Staff have consistently demonstrated fidelity to practice and our coaches continue to refine their feedback strategies to support growth across the board. This recognition is a testament to the collective effort and professionalism of our teaching team.

Marrung

Our WPSC Mob Meetings have continued weekly, providing a safe and empowering space for Koorie students to connect, lead and shape their school experience with our Koorie workforce. A special congratulations to Austin Armstrong, who proudly represented our community at the Year 12 Koorie Graduation, a moment of immense pride for all involved. Also a greta event to see our WPSC Alumni Nash Jones as the guest speaker, an increibly moving speech, well done Nash.

NAIDOC Week was celebrated with vibrant lunchtime activities and curriculum integration, including canvas painting, tote bag design, On Country learning with Uncle Josh West and a Mob cook up. These events were not just cultural celebrations, they were leadership-building experiences that brought students together across year levels.

We also acknowledge Pippa Campbell’s participation in the Koorie Curriculum Cluster Project recently with an On Country experience in Bendigo. This project ishelping to shape the next phase of curriculum development for VC 2.0.

Meanwhile, Nash Jones has been working with our mainstream students to prepare for the evolution of Western Port Mob Meetings in 2026, introducing Junior and Senior streams to better support student leadership and voice.

We’re also proud to be hosting the Deadly Future Leaders Primary Program on October 21, welcoming students from across the network to engage in hands on cultural leadership activities.

CARE Captains

Our CARE Captains have wrapped up their legacy projects for the year with energy and impact. Highlights include the Senior Formal and the Year 8 Disco, both of which brought joy, connection, and celebration to our student community.

Looking ahead, we encourage all students interested in leadership to check out the key dates for 2026 CARE Captain applications and interview times. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into leadership, shape school culture, and continue the legacy of student empowerment at WPSC.

Kind Regards,

Brooke Roy
