Class Reports
Year 1
What a wonderful way to finish the term, celebrating Sports Colours Day and participating in the swimming program at Aquamoves. The students enjoyed every moment, showing great enthusiasm and effort. We are looking forward to another exciting term of learning and fun ahead!
Year 2
This week in Year 2, we have been busy exploring new learning across our subjects.
In Mathematics, we have begun learning about 2D shapes. The children have been naming, identifying, and describing different shapes, focusing on their features such as sides and vertices.
In Religious Education, we are finishing the unit Let’s Care for Creation, focusing on the importance of recycling and how we can care for creation.
The children have been learning to use coordinating conjunctions and pronouns when writing. This has helped them create sentences that are more fluent and engaging for their audience.
Swimming has been a highlight of the week. After just a few days in the pool, we have already seen pleasing progress in many areas. The children have shown responsibility in organising their belongings, following instructions and putting in their best effort during lessons.
This week, we also held Learning Conversations where the children reflected on their learning, shared work they were proud of and set new learning goals for next term.
As we head into the school holidays, we would like to wish you and your family a safe and relaxing break. We look forward to an exciting and productive final term of the year.
Year 3/4
Swimming:
Over the past week, children have embraced the water with enthusiasm and courage, building confidence and learning a wide range of swimming skills. From floating and freestyle to diving and jumping in, each child has made wonderful progress. Some students even explored life-saving techniques - practising how to assist others safely and responsibly in aquatic settings.
It’s been fantastic to see their smiles, teamwork, and determination shine through. We’re so proud of their efforts and look forward to more water adventures ahead!
Literacy:
Children have been working hard to complete The Iron Man and their information reports on iron. They explored iron’s characteristics, its everyday uses, and where it is found across Australia.
Mathematics:
Children have enjoyed playing a variety of maths games focused on place value and identifying odd and even numbers. These activities encouraged collaboration and helped reinforce key number concepts.
Student Led Conferences:
Children have taken pride in sharing their learning during student-led conferences.
They reflected on their progress, discussed goals, and showcased work across key areas including literacy, maths, and inquiry. It was a valuable opportunity for families to engage with their child’s learning journey.
Learning Expo - Ecosytems
Our Year 3/4 students have been busy exploring the wonders of the natural world through their inquiry into ecosystems. Last week they proudly held a Learning Expo, showcasing the knowledge and creativity they’ve developed along the way.
Each student designed a detailed diorama and an informative poster about their chosen ecosystem – from vast deserts, to colourful coral reefs and lush rainforests. The results were both beautiful and insightful, showing not only the diversity of our planet but also how living things depend on one another to survive.
It was inspiring to see the curiosity, collaboration and pride shining through their work. A big well done to our young scientists and environmental stewards for sharing their learning so confidently!
Year 5
This week as a class we have been finishing up our class novel, Tom Appleby, Convict Boy and learning tasks before the end of term. In Maths we have just completed 3 weeks of learning about measurement, becoming more confident in mass (g, kg), capacity (ml, L) and length (mm, m & km). In this process we did a recap of all the things we have fit into a 9 week term. The list was very long as can be seen in the photo. The students then took some time to reflect on what has happened and what were some of the more memorable parts for them. See attached their reflections in the photos.
In R.E we have joined with the Grade 6's to complete the unit Creation and Responsibility. This has been very discussion based with some comparisons of the differences and similarities of the different faiths represented in this cohort of students. We have looked at how Science now plays a role in this space and where it fits into the story narratives and what actions we can take as individuals to continue to care for creation (Earth). We have looked at some Dreamtime creation stories and created our own interpretation of the important parts of these stories and the messages they leave us.
Year 6
Congratulations Charlotte!
This week Charlotte proudly represented St Anne’s College in the final of the Lions Public Speaking Competition.
She delivered a confident and articulate speech, impressing the judges and audience alike.
We are incredibly proud of Charlotte’s achievement and the way she showcased the values and spirit of our school.
Well done, Charlotte!
Congratulations Year 5/6 Hockey State Finalists!
Last week the Year 5/6 hockey team went to Footscray to play in the state finals. In the first game the team struggled losing by 5 goals but in the second game we did well only losing by 3 goals to the enviable champions, but finally in the last game we won 6-2. We used our teamwork skills and problem solving to get better and we know we can go one better next year. It was a great day for the team having fun on the bus on the way there and back.

Specialist
Foundation Italian
This term our Foundation students have been learning the different names for the human body using the Italian language. Students can sing and dance to the song 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes (Testa, Spalle, Gionocchia e Piedi)'. Students also had fun tracing a member of their group, which they then labelled and decorated.
Visual Art Foundation
This week, students have had fun learning how to weave a simple pattern across a plate to recreate waves. We had fun reading a story all about the different fish that live in the ocean which we used as inspiration for our own fish which would then ‘bob’ in the waves.
Year 1&2 Italian
This term our Year 1&2 students have been exploring fruit and foods in Italian. To celebrate their learning, they were treated to a visit to The Juice Bar! Students practiced using Italian phrases such as “can I please have…?”, “I like…”, and “I don’t like…” while enjoying their tasty treats. The Juice Bar was a huge hit, just look at those smiles!
Italian - Year 3/4
This term the Year 3/4 classes have been learning all about directions - Cardinal and Relative. Students made maps and then wrote their directions in Italian e.g. tre passi nord-est and directed a partner to their secret location on the map.
Visual Art - Year 3/4
Students have been learning about weaving which has led them to weaving around a cup. Students have learned, to successfully weave a cup, they must have an odd number of tabs to follow the over/under pattern. Students have also learned how to change the colour of their wool and to integrate it into their pattern. Students then used these skills to create a God’s eye.
Italian - Year 5
This term the Year 5 students have learned all about clothes and how to ask the price of an item of clothing. Students had fun taking turns roll playing a shopkeeper and a customer where they had to use phrases such as ‘Quanto costa maglietta?’ - how much is the shirt? and ‘La maglietta costa trentacinque euros' - the shirt costs 35 euros. They then created advertisements for some items of clothing and had to write it in Italian.
Italian - Year 6
This term students learned all about Italian celebrations. These celebrations ranged from ones that are familiar to many Australians such as Christmas and New Year to other celebrations such as Liberation Day and Venice Carnival. Students explored the music, food, clothing, traditions and the reason for the celebrations and how some practices are unique to Italy, for example in Italy it is considered to bring good luck and money if you eat lentils and grapes on New Years Eve.
Reminders:
Parents/carers are reminded there is a very important process to follow if your student must leave the college at any time throughout school hours. Please ensure you follow these steps:
Parents/carers MUST provide a note to the front office, at the start of the school day, stating the following:
- Student Name
- Date of leave required
- The time the student must present to reception to take their leave
- If they will return to the college the same day, and if so what time they will return
- The reason for the leave being requested
- The parent/carer’s name and signature
Please note, students will only be permitted to be collected by their parent/carer unexpectedly and without a note if it is an emergency.
We remind all that the college opens at 8:30am. This enables educators time to prepare for their day ahead. We appreciate your support in helping our educators be successful. Yard duty staff begin at 8:30am to monitor play spaces before the school day begins at 8:55am.
