HAWK Independent Investigations – Mentors Wanted!

Our Year 9 & 10 High Ability Wider Knowledge (HAWK) students are beginning their Independent Investigations, where they explore a problem of their choice to identify a space for change, break through ignorance on a topic, and make their world a better place.

As part of this project, students are encouraged to connect with experts who can help them deepen their understanding and refine their ideas. We are currently seeking volunteer mentors for a small number of projects. The commitment involves one initial meeting (ideally in person) and a few follow-up emails or meetings as students progress.

We are particularly looking for mentors who are:

  • Experienced in digital wellbeing and cybersafety for teens
  • Working in AI
  • Women in male-dominated fields who would be happy to speak on camera and contribute to an educational video
  • Speech Pathologists
  • Optometrists

If you have expertise in one of these areas, we’d love to hear from you! Please contact Ms Casley on melissa.casley@education.vic.gov.au if you are interested or would like more information.
