ENSEMBLES CONCERT || Our talented music students took to the stage for the Ensembles Concert on Tuesday night, showcasing their skills and passion. It was a fantastic evening of music and community!

VicSRC CONGRESS || Jasper H (Year 8), Cameron H and Ariston J (Year 10) showcased their enthusiasm for learning and leadership at the VicSRC Congress yesterday. Their passion for participating in education through extracurricular activities shone through as they shared ideas and collaborated with students from across Victoria to help shape the future of education!

FINAL VCE BIOLOGY STUDY SESSION || Yesterday marked the final Unit 3/4 Biology AOS 2 study session, where students consolidated their knowledge of population genetics and evolution. Congratulations to our students on the effort they’ve put into their revision — best of luck as exams approach!

TGO LIVING & CULTURE WALK || Our Year 9 & 10 The Great Outdoors students explored Bushrangers Bay and Cape Schanck yesterday, discovering coastal landscapes, basalt cliffs and the Indigenous connection to the land — a valuable experience to inspire their upcoming PBL!

CONNOR’S RUN || Well done to our amazing students and staff who participated in Connor’s Run today, helping to change the odds for kids facing brain cancer, the #1 cancer killer of young people. Together we raised an incredible $1,901 – with a huge credit to Phoebe M (Year 11) who raised an outstanding $1,516!

EMPOWERING YEAR 12S WITH SONYA KARRAS: SAFE CHOICES FOR LIFE BEYOND SCHOOL || Year 12 students took part in an empowering session with @Sonya Karras, renowned youth advocate and speaker, during GOAL today. Sonya shared invaluable insights on safe partying, Schoolies tips, and the importance of understanding consent, and practical help-seeking strategies for when they or their friends need support. Her engaging, real-life stories and practical advice equipped students with the knowledge to make informed, respectful choices as they transition into independence. A huge thank you to Sonya for her impactful presentation!

YEAR 11 WELLBEING DAY || As part of their student-led wellbeing day, our Year 11 students celebrated the end of term by coming to school in their pyjamas and enjoying a picnic during GOAL at Balcombe Park!

YEAR 9 WELLBEING DAY || As part of their student-led wellbeing day, our Year 9 students celebrated the end of term by participating in a variety of activities including, decorating cookies, mindful colouring and sport activities during their GOAL session today!

YEAR 7 DRAMA IN ACTION || As part of their Term 3 PBL, Year 7 students worked in pairs and small groups to create scripted performances. They used the Elements of Drama, rehearsed together, and polished their expressive skills to bring their characters to life!

A TASTE OF FRENCH CULTURE || Today, our Year 9–11 French students immersed themselves in the world of French Impressionism at the NGV. They also enjoyed lunch at a French café with native speakers, adding an authentic cultural experience. The excursion provided valuable support for their French studies and upcoming assessments.

YEAR 7 BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS x2 & HOCKEY ROUND ROBIN || Congratulations to our Year 7 Boys and Year 7 Girls Basketball teams—both crowned Divisional Champions! Their skill, teamwork and determination have paid off—an outstanding effort by all players!

 

Our Year 7 Hockey team also competed today in an all-day Round Robin tournament, playing four games. While the win wasn’t ours, the players showed fantastic effort and sportsmanship—well done!

TUESDAY 16 SEPTEMBER 2025 

INTRODUCING THE STEVE PEARCE SENIOR CENTRE || This evening, we proudly held the official naming ceremony for our Steve Pearce Senior Centre, attended by Steve and his wonderful family, our Foundation Principal Debby Chaves, Murray Thompson (former MP for Sandringham, representing Brad Rowswell), and members of our school and local community. The plaque and signage mark this very important and special milestone.

 

“This Senior Centre is named in honour of Steve Pearce, our foundation School Council President. Steve’s vision, passion and tireless efforts were instrumental in establishing a standalone co-educational government secondary school in Beaumaris in 2018. His dedication to securing approval and funding for the Stage 2 building, which opened in 2022, laid the foundation for the college as it stands today.”

YEAR 7 & 8 HAWK ADVENTURE || Today, our Year 7 & 8 High Abilities Wider Knowledge (HAWK) students explored the Viking Hoard exhibition at Melbourne Museum and tested their wits in a history-themed Escape Room at The Mystery Rooms!

GIRLS IN SCIENCE PROGRAM || Year 9–11 students had the exciting opportunity to meet the 2025 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science award winners, today. They heard about their research, pathways, and experiences as women in STEM, asked questions, and explored interactive science activities with GTAC STEM coaches.

YEAR 7 IMPRESSIONISM IN ACTION || Our Year 7 Create Visual students have been exploring the Impressionism Art Movement, drawing inspiration from Monet, Cezanne and Van Gogh. Using the techniques, processes and materials used by these significant artists, students have created amazing landscape artworks while learning colour theory, drawing techniques and visual analysis skills.

VISIBLE WELLBEING ACCREDITATION || We’re proud to share that Beaumaris Secondary College has been formally accredited as a Visible Wellbeing Program School. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to nurturing student and staff wellbeing and embedding wellbeing practices across all aspects of learning and community life. During GOAL, students and staff explore the Visible Wellbeing SEARCH Framework to integrate learning and wellbeing in practical ways. Kayden M (pictured), our Student Wellbeing Leader, collaborates with peers and teachers to develop and implement effective wellbeing support strategies, helping to make our school a supportive and inclusive community.

BETTER HEALTH NETWORK FOOTY DAY || It was fantastic to see our students spreading joy and promoting inclusivity while leading drills and activities for the Adult Community Options Disability Day Program. This has become an important annual event, and we value our ongoing partnership with the Better Health Network.

YEAR 12 GOAL GROUPS CELEBRATE THEIR SECOND-LAST SESSION || Our Year 12 students marked their second-last GOAL Group session with a variety of activities. Some groups enjoyed a picnic and painting, some walked to Ricketts Point for fish and chips on the beach and some spent time at the concourse. A lovely way to celebrate their time together!

BSC MARKET DAY || Our Year 9 Innovate students brought their creativity and entrepreneurial skills to life today! From delicious treats to interactive stalls and challenges, students across all year levels joined in the fun while discovering the world of social enterprise. A wonderful event, with all funds supporting charities and non-profits chosen by the students!

CONGRATULATIONS SAXON! || We’re thrilled to celebrate Year 9 student Saxon, who received a prize — Winner (14 –17 Years) Category — at the 25th Annual Young People of Bayside Art Exhibition! Saxon’s creativity and imagination continue to shine, reflecting the outstanding talent nurtured within our Create program. A big thank-you to Bayside City Council for championing young artists and providing such an inspiring platform for emerging talent. 

 

As Beaumaris Secondary College continues to establish itself as a leading centre for Art and Design education, we couldn’t be prouder of the innovation, skill and passion shown by our students.

CELEBRATING OUR VCE VM STARS! || Congratulations to Vlad, Elise and Indiia, who were celebrated last night at the inaugural BGKLLEN Awards Evening as nominees for the 2025 Applied Learning Award in the VCE VM Student of the Year category! Vlad also received the Excellence in Applied Learning award. What an amazing recognition of all of your dedication and hard work.

ODD SOCKS DAY || Today, our students and staff came together to “Sock it to Stigma” and “Stamp Out” negativity around talking openly about wellbeing and mental ill health by wearing their quirkiest odd socks! With lunchtime stands, games and giveaways from GROW Australia, Headspace and Bayside Youth Services, it was a fun way to promote wellbeing and support each other. Thanks to everyone who donated and helped raise funds for our wellbeing programs!

PHILLIP ISLAND FIELDWORK || Our Year 11 Geography students enjoyed an engaging overnight trip to Phillip Island! From the Penguin Parade to the Koala Reserve, Summerland Estate, the Nobbies and local beaches, they explored key tourist sites and investigated the environmental, economic, social and cultural impacts of tourism—collecting photos, data and interviews for their SAC 2 Fieldwork Reports.
