Celebrating Father's Day at RGLPS
This week at Rosanna Golf Links Primary School we were delighted to celebrate the special role dads, grandfathers, and significant male figures play in our community.
On Thursday, our Golf Links Community Group hosted the annual Father’s Day Stall. Students were full of excitement as they carefully browsed the wide range of gifts, from handmade crafts to practical treasures. It was heart-warming to see how much thought and care went into their selections, with many eager to find just the right item to surprise their dad or special person. A huge thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who organised and staffed the stall. Your efforts made this experience both fun and memorable for the children.
On Friday morning, we continued the celebrations with our Father’s Day Breakfast. Families gathered bright and early to enjoy a delicious spread of food and a chance to share in community spirit before the school day began. The atmosphere was warm and cheerful, with plenty of smiles, conversation, and laughter.
These events are a wonderful reminder of the importance of community connection at RGLPS. We extend our gratitude to the GLCG and staff who made the celebrations possible, and we wish all dads and special people a very Happy Father’s Day!
Sunsmart at RGLPS
At Rosanna Golf Links Primary School, the health and wellbeing of our students is always our priority. As we move into the warmer months, it is important to remember the risks associated with the Australian sun and the responsibility we all share in keeping our children safe.
Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, and overexposure to the sun during childhood greatly increases the risk later in life. The UV rays in spring and summer are particularly strong, and even on cooler or cloudy days, children can still be affected. For this reason, RGLPS is proud to be a SunSmart school and to actively teach and model safe behaviours in the sun.
From now on, we will be strictly enforcing our “No Hat, No Play” rule. All students are required to wear a wide-brimmed or legionnaire-style hat whenever they are outside during the school day. If a child does not have a hat, they will be asked to remain in a shaded area rather than participating in outdoor activities.
In addition to wearing hats, we encourage families to support children in applying sunscreen before school, and we will also remind students to reapply sunscreen before heading outside during the day. Lightweight, long-sleeved clothing can provide extra protection and is a great way to reduce the harmful effects of UV exposure.
By working together, we can create safe habits for life and ensure our students are protected while still enjoying the outdoors. We ask for your support in reinforcing these expectations with your child and reminding them that being SunSmart is about showing responsibility for their health and wellbeing.

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey opened on Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025.
All families are invited to participate in the survey.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.Last year we used the survey results to reengage families through the GLCG.Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information.
