School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS)

School-wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS)

Toolamba Primary School is a SWPBS school. SWPBS is a globally recognised, evidence-based approach that improves behaviour, wellbeing, and learning for children and young people. When implemented effectively, SWPBS allows teachers and students to spend more time building positive relationships and focusing on learning.

It benefits everyone by:

  • increasing respectful and positive behaviour

  • allowing more time for focused learning in the classroom

  • enhancing social and emotional wellbeing

  • strengthening positive and respectful relationships between students and staff

  • creating safe, orderly, and supportive school environments

Our Expected Behaviours

At Toolamba Primary School, we have expected behaviours that align with our school values (Inclusive, Trustworthy, Respectful and Kind). The expected behaviours for each of our school values can be found in our SWPBS matrix, which is displayed in all classrooms and referred to often. As part of our wellbeing lessons, teachers model, explicitly teach and give students the opportunity to practice these behaviours.

Tokens

Students are enjoying earning tokens when they showcase these expected behaviours and having lots of success in helping others with our school values and expected behaviours.

Shoppers

Lots of shoppers this week to finish off the term! We've had students purchasing all the way up to the 200 token tub! In addition to the shop items, we've also had students purchase bell music and free time!

Here's what some of our shoppers had to say about their purchases:

Lola - I like playing chess at home with dad so I got the chess set!

Charlotte - I picked the giant rainbow rubber so I can rub out big mistakes!

Lillian - I chose the donut rubber because it is cute!
