Wow! What an exciting few days it has been for our newest Brookside College students. The preps have had an amazing start to school with lots of smiles and happy faces. Thank you to everyone involved in helping our Prep students transition to primary school. We appreciate all your care and support you have provided to make this transition to school as smooth as possible.
We have had fun exploring the classroom and the school grounds, we have enjoyed investigating our Maths resources and we have made lots of new friends.
A few reminders…
We are very excited for the year and we can’t wait to share with you all the exciting things we discover this year. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please email your child’s teacher to organise a time to meet with them.
Thank you for your continued support.
The 2024 Prep Team
The Year 1 students have had a great start to the term. They have settled into their new classroom and begun making new friendships.
During their Humanities Units they have been talking about their families and learning about the different jobs family members do at home.
Students will soon be using their imaginations to write and sequence stories through our Narrative Unit.
In Math, students are practicing their skip counting patterns and partitioning numbers.

The Year 1 Teachers
The vibe in Year 2 has been fantastic, and our students are adding their uniqueness to each classroom! They've seamlessly settled into the routine, creating a delightful atmosphere. It has been so nice to see new friendships blossom as they settle into their new classes.
It has been amazing to see all the students settle straight into the curriculum and begin learning new things! In numeracy, students have been focusing on expanding their place value knowledge through ordering and expanding numbers. There has been lots of hands-on practice through making human number lines, rolling dice to create 3 and 4-digit numbers, and using our new manipulative, MAB!
In literacy, we continue to foster a love of reading and writing. Lots of storybooks have been read, where we have dived deeper into the skills of summarizing, predicting, and questioning with more to be added soon. It is paramount that we assist students in creating high-quality sentences through punctuation and sentence types. It has been fun exploring nouns and seeing what sentences students come up with using various noun types.
We continue to foster friendships and discuss regularly how we can act kindly to one another. This will continue to be a message that we convey to our little learners throughout the year.
As we reflect on these last few weeks, the Year 2 team wants to thank you for your support in a calm start to the year.
Thank you for being an integral part of our Year 2 journey!
