Pre-Primary Lorikeets and Possums
We are having a wonderful term in Pre-Primary! Each week, we are learning new things in Science, Art, Music and Italian during our Specialist sessions. Here are some of the things we have been learning about in our classrooms…
Religion:
Over the past few weeks, we have been reflecting on ‘new life’ as we begin to explore Lent and Easter. We have been on nature walks to discover signs of new life in God’s beautiful world and have watched videos of new life such as plants growing, flowers blooming and chicks hatching from their eggs.
Literacy:
This term we have been focusing on our pre-writing patterns in preparation for letter writing. Each fortnight we read a book, our favourite being ‘Mrs Honey’s Dream’. After completing our comprehension activities, we got to write our own version of how Mrs Honey was rescued. Our ideas were amazing and blew Mrs Millar, Mrs Hitch, Mrs D and Mrs E away!
Mathematics:
We have made some fantastic discoveries in Maths this term. We started by revising our numbers and then moved into measuring length. We loved using rulers, measuring tapes and tape measures to measure things outside and to measure each other.
Inquiry Learning:
Have you ever wondered what comes in a shell and why they have a shell? We have been investigating these questions and have learnt so many things about creatures with shells that protect them from predators. Our Inquiry Learning is taking us on many exciting learning adventures!
