Emotions

We are all beginning our units on Emotions during our SEL sessions this week, if not we have already begun these. In these sessions we grow our Emotional Literacy.

We use the resources from the Bounce Back program and Respectful Relationships to support our learning in this area.

Our students learn that it is healthy and normal for us all to have negative and positive emotions. They explore how to recognise these emotions in themselves and others.  They explore ways that we can share how we are feeling and how we can respond to others when they share feelings.

Students build a large vocabulary for emotions helping them build their self awareness and empathy for others.

We have a designated area in our library called our wellbeing area. This area has rich picture story books that the teachers can use as springboards for all of the concepts taught in our SEL sessions. There are just a few below.

Please take the time to discuss with your child what they are learning in regards to emotions during their SEL sessions.  Label emotions within your household.
