At Kinross Wolaroi we are fortunate to have student leaders who are dedicated to promoting a positive culture and making a difference in the lives of their peers. From leading school assemblies and organising events, to volunteering in the community and advocating for important causes, our leaders are truly making an impact.
Last week our School Prefects conducted the first whole-school ‘Gatho’ for 2024. A standout moment was when our prefects took the initiative to impart the tradition of our school war cry (“Chickalaka!”) to our Year 7 students, fostering a sense of unity and pride within our school community.
We also saw the “Kinrossian” award for citizenship presented to Year 12 student, Hattie O'Dea. Hattie's exceptional character, commitment, and embodiment of our school values make her a deserving recipient of this honour. These initiatives exemplify the importance of student leadership in nurturing school spirit and tradition. Well done Prefects!
A reminder to parents and carers of our Year 11 and 12 cohorts, the upcoming Parent Teacher Interviews will occur online next Monday 26 February. Booking information has been sent to families via email.
We hope you'll bring the whole family along to our Country Fair on 2 March on the main oval - it is for a great cause, to support the restoration of our iconic Wolaroi Mansion.
We're expecting strong attendance, so please note that the main drive off Bathurst Road will be reserved for pedestrian access on the day. Parking will be available at the Orange Function Centre, the Junior School Carpark and adjacent basketball courts (enter via Cox Avenue near Bathurst Rd), and on-street. Disabled parking (with a permit only) will be available in the reception carpark and these vehicles will be permitted to use the main drive.
Students who are working on stalls during the Fair are required to wear full co-curricular uniform, including a hat, and to bring a water bottle. If you are dropping off or picking up students on the day, remember that car access to the school campus will be very limited and may be crowded. We recommend using either the Junior School 'drop and go' zone or the Allenby Road bus zone as options.
There will be loads of fun to be had for all ages on the day, including on the main stage, where you will enjoy performances from our outstanding music students, as well as two magic shows. There will be face painting, crazy hair and nails, and fun kids competitions. We'll also have some tempting external market stalls for the adults to do some shopping while the kids are busy on the rides, as well as Devonshire teas and a wine bar with locally produced wine and beer (from 12pm).
If you or your family are ex-students, if you have a family member considering enrolment, or you know someone who would just like to take a look around the school, there will be a tour of the campus leaving from the Enrolment tent outside reception at 10.30am. Please help us with numbers by booking for the tour HERE.
Our raffle prizes are outstanding and include some amazing getaways. With a total of eleven prizes you're in with a great chance to win! Buy your tickets online before the Fair, HERE.
There are seven great rides available on the day - something for every age group. Take a look at the rides and prepay your child's all-day ride pass HERE.
Many of our staff are donating their time to support our school, so I hope you will join with me in supporting their efforts. Bring along plenty of gold coins or purchase tickets with EFTPOS on the day.
I look forward to seeing you there!
