Look at these JOLLY JUMPERS fly!

Last week, in PE, we watched all of our students jump, leap and dive onto the high jump mat!  We were super impressed with the level of skill and courage our kids showed when faced with the challenge of making it onto the mat or over the bar as it increased in height throughout the session.  Foundation to Year two children were excellent at performing a Fosbury Flop technique while Years three to six used a combination of scissor kicks and flopping.  It’s safe to say everyone had a great time so we thought we would share some action shots!

SPORTS DAYS

As we make our way to the end of February, heading into March, our ‘to do list’ is getting jam packed as we approach Ball Sports Day and the Athletics Carnival.  We are focussed on practising our events but we will also be starting to prepare everyone for the Ball Sports Relays.

This week, on Thursday the 29th of February at 9:00am we will be asking all years three to six classes to assemble on the Medwell Oval for our Sprint Trials.  These help determine the heat for the 100m races for Athletics Day and relay events.

CROSS COUNTRY

Next week, on Wednesday the 6th of March students who wish to participate in Cross Country will take to our local park for the 2km and 3km event.  Parents, family members and friends are always welcome to come and cheer on the children as they run 2 or 3 laps of the Miners Rest Park.  We hope to begin shortly after 9am with the younger students, completing 2km, running first followed by the 3km runners.

GYMNASTICS

Preparation is under well underway for our F-2 Gymnastics Program for Term Two. We are very excited for our students to be participating this year at the Eureka Gymnastics Club.
