STEM - Mr Brown

What a fantastic start to the 2024 we have had in STEM. The STEM room has been very busy with lots of investigations and experiments happening. The students have been demonstrating their curiosity through their wonderings and questions and I am looking forward to what we are all going to be learning for the rest of the year.

This term we have had a science and design focus in the area of Biology. Here is a snapshot of what we have been learning so far:

  • Foundation have been practising working cooperatively with each other, making sure they sharing the resources while still being as creative as possible.
  • Year 1/2 have been doing some Safaris around the school. Observing what creatures are living in the schoolyard with us.
  • Year 3/4 have looked at what plants are growing in the school and are now experimenting with creating environments that will grow plants.
  • Year 5/6 are looking at microorganisms through investigations with yeast and mould working out the perfect environments for these microorganisms to flourish.

Also a big thank you for all the bottle donations. The year 3/4 are going to really appreciate them.

Biology joke of the day:

Why was the mushroom so popular?

He was a real fungi
