Bulldogs Read Program

On Thursday 22nd of March, 18 students in Year 5 selected for the Bulldogs Read Program visited the Lakers Clubroom for the programs Welcome Event. The students had an incredible day, learning about how the program will work, events they will participate in and the numerous opportunities they will get to engage with the Western Bulldogs Football Club.

The highlight of the event was spending time with players from the AFL and AFLW sides as well as club mascots Caesar and Sunny. Adam Treloar, Jason Johannisen, Heidi Woodley, Rylie Willcox and Kristie-Lee Weston-Turner welcomed questions, autographs and photos with our students, sharing with us their experiences in the sport as well as their own engagement with reading.

The Bulldogs Read Program is a literacy initiative based solely in Ballarat. Ran in conjunction with the Western Bulldogs Football Club and the Ballarat Libraries, students are required to complete book reviews across the year, sharing their thoughts and recommendations on the Bulldogs Read website. Students will begin to meet weekly to discuss and share the texts they are currently reading and work on completing and submitting their book reviews. For more information on the program, please see the website link below. Keep an eye out this year as well to see the book reviews our students complete that will be published on the website also.
