2026 School Theme - Coherence
Dear Westbreen PS Families,
School Beanies
The Junior School Council are raising funds for our school and building school pride by selling Westbreen beanies for $20. Order via the Qkr! app.
This will be a once only opportunity to order.
Orders will close on Wednesday 29th April (tomorrow!) for delivery at the end of term 2. The beanies are one size fits all and include a pom-pom, woven ‘Westbreen’ and are embroidered with the school logo. The Junior School Council did a fantastic job designing these special items.
New Canteen Item! Noodles are here!
In response to student feedback through Junior School Council, the canteen will be offering a special Term 2 item - Noodles! They will be available in either chicken or beef flavour at a cost of $5. These will only be available on Mondays! Order via Qkr! app.
Anzac Day
On Friday we held the Westbreen Primary School Anzac day assembly. It was wonderful to see all of our student joined by so many parents and community members for our commemoration of Anzac Day. School leaders laid a wreath and poppies and read the Ode of Remembrance. We listened to The Last Post and held 1 minute silence to remember those who have sacrificed for our country.
On Saturday, I joined our school leaders and Mrs Davies (our student leadership co-ordinator) for the Dawn Service at the Glenroy RSL. It was a moving service that focused on the 125th anniversary of the Australian Army and Navy. Congratulations to our school captains and house captains who attended and represented our school with pride, showing our school values of respect, care and compassion.
Thank you to everyone who purchased badges to support the Anzac Appeal.
Respectful Behaviours in the School Community
Parents/carers and school staff have a relationship that can last many years. This is an opportunity to work together to create a positive relationship in the best interests of the child.
When this relationship is built on respect and trust, students learn better and feel like they belong in the school. The foundation of a good collaborative relationship is based on:
- open and honest communication
- trust and respect
- working together
- fair and reasonable expectations by all.
To understand more about how to build a positive connection to your school, access the Family Engagement in Learning (PDF, 343KB) resource.
Respectful communication with the school, staff and community members is key to this success. If parents have concerns about incidents that have occurred, please raise them directly with the school. It is not appropriate to approach other students or their parents as this can make others feel unsafe. The best course of action is to follow our school complaints policy, raising your concerns in person, via telephone or in writing via email.
The Respectful Behaviours within the School Community Policy | vic.gov.au outlines the expectations and possible consequences for parents who do not engage respectfully in our school community.
At Westbreen Primary School, we believe that when schools, home, and communities agree that they are stronger together than apart, students will be able to thrive academically and personally.
Breakfast Club
Unfortunately, we have not been able to run Breakfast Club over the past few weeks due to a lack of volunteers. Breakfast Club is a highly regarded school program but can not run without the support of our community. If you (or someone you know that has a Working with Children Check) are able to assist on any morning to prepare and serve breakfast (cereal, toast etc), please contact the office. We need your support to continue this great service for our community.
Yours in education,
Megan Ganter
