Congratulations Charlie

Congratulations to Charlie B (Year 10) on his recent win at the Victorian Open Lawn Bowls competition.  Charlie came away with gold in the U18 Boys Singles in a 3-end tie breaker round.

Vocal Lessons – Lakmini Hewawasam (Tuesdays)

Lakmini brings over 15 years of experience in voice training across a range of schools. She focuses on building a strong vocal foundation through breathing techniques, warm-ups, vocal exercises and scales. These core skills are essential for developing healthy vocal technique, tone quality, and control. Lakmini currently has availability and welcomes new students.

Guitar Lessons – Matthew Heard (Mondays)

Matthew, a former student of our school, is a dedicated and versatile instrumental teacher with 10 years of experience working with students of all ages. He specialises in creating personalised learning programs, preparing students for performances and fostering confident, expressive musicians. As a professional performer with international ensemble experience, Matthew brings a wealth of knowledge in music theory and pedagogy. He is currently accepting names for a waitlist and may open an additional day if there is sufficient interest.

Piano Lessons – Elisha Salakowski (Wednesdays)

Elisha is the owner and principal teacher of The Little Music Room in Violet Town and a specialist in piano education. She uses a gentle, step-by-step teaching approach that builds confidence, creativity and strong musicianship skills. Elisha is currently taking expressions of interest for her waitlist, with the possibility of opening an additional day.

St Augustine's Got Talent 2026

We know that St Augustine's has a lot of talent. Our show will be held in Term 3 on Wednesday 9th September. 

 

We are calling out to any student or group of students who can sing, dance, play an instrument, re-create a song or short scene from a musical or tell a great joke (plus lots of other things).

 

We will have a variety of prizes and special judges.

Learner Diversity Update: Understanding the NCCD and Upcoming Documentation via Adobe Sign

At St Augustine’s College, we are committed to ensuring that every student is supported to achieve their full learning potential. 

 

As part of this commitment, we participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) - an annual, Australia-wide process that helps schools identify and support students who may require additional adjustments to access learning on the same basis as their peers.

 

Students receiving additional support and their families will be provided with a Personalised Learning Plan (PLP) or Student Adjustment and Evaluation Plan (SAEP). This document outlines the student’s strengths, areas for growth and the adjustments being made to support their learning. It is an important tool that helps ensure consistency and clarity for everyone involved in each student’s education. 

 

Once per semester, parents and caregivers of students with a PLP will meet with their child’s TA Teacher - and, if needed, Leanne Reed (Learner Diversity Leader) - to review and update the plan. Parents and caregivers of students on an SAEP will meet with their child’s TA Teacher. 

 

This collaborative process, known as a Program Support Group (PSG) meeting, allows teachers to reflect on the supports already in place within the classroom and to ensure these adjustments are purposeful, targeted and responsive to individual needs. It also strengthens communication between school and home, ensuring that families are informed and involved in their child’s learning journey.

 

In 2026, PSG meetings will take place for the following year levels as below: 

  • Foundation to Year 6, new Year 7s and Year 12 – Term 1 & Term 3 

  • Years 7 to 11 – Term 2 & Term 4 

Please note: parents can request an additional PSG at any time throughout the year. 

 

This year, PLP/SAEP documents and PSG minutes will be shared with families using Adobe Sign (previously these were sent through Operoo). This secure digital platform allows you to easily review and sign documents online, making the process more efficient and environmentally friendly. You will receive an email notification when your child’s documents are ready to view. Simply follow the prompts in the email to access, review and sign the forms.

 

In terms where PSGs are not scheduled, PLPs and SAEPs will be forwarded to families via Adobe Sign to either:

  • Sign off on the updated termly PLP or SAEP as this does not require any further adjustments at this stage, or  

  • Contact your child’s TA teacher to request a meeting to review the updated Plan and, if required, to make any necessary changes.

The Orange Door

Our school cares about the safety and wellbeing of our students and their families.  

 

Sometimes things at home or in a relationship are not OK or families can be worried about the wellbeing of their children or young people. The Orange Door can help you to get the support you need, quickly and easily. It’s free and you don’t need a referral.  

 

The Orange Door  

The Orange Door can help families. They provide support for concerns with parenting, relationships and family violence.  

 

The Orange Door is a free intake and assessment service for:  

  • families requiring support for their child or young person’s wellbeing or development  

  • families needing parenting support  

  • young, isolated, or unsupported families  

  • individuals and families experiencing family violence  

  • adults using family violence  

  • young people using violence in the home  

 

If you contact The Orange Door, they can help by:  

  • working with you to identify the help and support you need  

  • supporting you with the wellbeing and development of your child or young person  

  • helping you make a safety plan if someone is making you feel unsafe  

  • connecting you to services that can help like counselling, accommodation, mental health and drug and alcohol services, parenting support groups, services for children, financial help, or legal assistance  

  • supporting you to access funding for basic living expenses and some other costs  

  • supporting you to change abusive or controlling behaviour 

 

Each Orange Door location across Victoria has their own phone number and email. Students and their families can also visit their local Orange Door in person for support, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm for support. No appointment is needed.

How schools connect with The Orange Door  

Our school might talk to a student and/or their family about The Orange Door. We might encourage them to contact their local Orange Door to get advice and help if needed.  

Ideally, a student and/or their family will get in touch with The Orange Door to seek advice and support.  

 

Sometimes, schools might make a referral to The Orange Door without the student or their family’s knowledge or consent. Schools will do this if:  

  • informing a student and/or family increases the risk to their safety or wellbeing 

  • not linking a student to support increases the risk of their safety and wellbeing
