Our focus this term -

Number - place value, counting, patterns, mental computation, worded problem solving, formal addition and subtraction strategies

Measurement  - using formal and informal units of measurement, time (days, weeks, months, seasons, years) and calculating duration

Statistics and Probability - describing and interpreting data, creating graphs

The major Mathematics assessment tool at Hampton PS is a school-wide digital resource called Essential Assessment. Teachers can set pre-assessments in any area of Mathematics that will be the unit focus. This allows for individual differentiation and helps teachers set the direction of focused group and whole-class teaching and learning. The proficiencies of Understanding, Fluency, Problem Solving and Reasoning are fundamental to the 6 strands of Mathematics.
