What's that saying?  It's not work if you love what you do!

I can honestly say, I haven't 'worked' in the classroom this week!! The students have been awesome. They are turning up with manners, curiosity, empathy and a drive to learn. The office side of work feels like work but the time teaching has been nothing but rewarding, fun and exciting. What a great start to 2025.

Although it's been enjoyable, it has been busy!

We have completed all the Kindergarten Best Start assessments and updates from those assessments have been sent home to families. I had some very unique answers to some of the questions this year which was terrific! I have never had a Kinder student in their first few weeks of school use a word like 'terrain'. I also had one of the most imaginative and creative stories told to me as they 'read' the book we were looking at and one of the students blew me away with their mathematical responses.

We have started our online lessons with Mrs Denning our Virtual Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction staff member (who teaches some lesson on line and does lots of work behind the scenes.) It has been pleasing to see how quickly the students have responded to the format of these sessions. Mrs Denning will be visiting us in Week 6 in person so it will be lovely for the students to meet Mrs Denning in person, not just on the screen!

We have been busy in Science too beginning our bean growing experiment and it's been fun watching the beans the K/1 students planted already sprouting in their jars. We are observing how they are effected by having no light, no air and no water. The control beans so far are shooting up!  The 3 - 6 students are testing the impact of different soils on how plants might grow. Looking forward to seeing the results.

I sent out an invitation to join the 2025 Families and staff group on What's App this week, so parents if you didn't recieve the invitation please let me know and we can try and fix this up.

I am including a Road Safety Tips newsletter flyer in this newsletter, please be sure to read it and keep our children's safety a priority. I would like to take this opportunity too to remind parents/carers and vistors to our school that to keep our students safe, students are not allowed in the school carpark unless they are holding an adult's hand. They are very good at following this rule however when parents/carers come they often forget that this rule applies and that it is in fact more important that they follow at this time with increased traffic. We would greatly appreciate your assistance with this, and ask that you help to remind the students of this rule to keep everyone safe. It is also important for the older children to follow this rule as an example to the younger students who are watching and taking their lead.

I'd also like to publicly say a big thank you to all the staff. You are all very appreciated for all the little extras that you do. It has been a wonderful start to 2025 because of you all.

Thank you.
