Wellbeing News 2025 - Week 4
What a lovely start we have had in the Mindfulness Centre this year.
2025 has seen the move of the Wellbeing Room to the space near the Year 2 Rooms. Our students are certainly enjoying the new space, especially the access to the larger library next door and the cushioned mellow mat space.
The Mindfulness Centre is open Tuesday to Friday during lunchtimes. Please be aware that on some days we have to restrict numbers to ensure the space continues to be used as a passive and calm space away from the intensity of the playground. On these particular days we endeavour to set up spaces outside the room to accommodate our numbers.
Quote of the day from Michelle Mitchell an award-winning speaker, and bestselling parenting author.
“Starting a new school year is an emotional marathon. Kids are navigating new routines, new expectations and new relationships. It takes energy- more than we realise. So instead of just asking “What do you have to do today?” Try asking “ How can you look after yourself today?”
End of the day tip: Providing a snack for the trip home and minimal questions from us can prevent meltdowns and help set up a calm evening. Our children have been surrounded by noise and stimulation all day so often they just need a hug, some time and some food to recharge the battery before sharing about their day.
Looking for a good watch on TV? ABC IView has a new documentary called “The Role of a Lifetime.” It takes a deep dive into some of the challenges facing our children and our parenting in today's world. It certainly offers some great thoughts to ponder over and is more suited for parents of tweens and teens.
