Welcome BBQ
A huge thank you to the families who were able to come along to the Welcome BBQ last Wednesday evening. Many new friendships were made and loads of fun was had as parents mingled and students played. Our chefs did a great job cooking and a big shoutout to Woolworths for the donation towards the food and drinks.
Wellbeing
You Can Do It! (YCDI)
YCDI is a social and emotional program used at our school for all students from K-6 to support their wellbeing. Below is a snap shot of the You Can Do It! Social and Emotional Learning Framework.
Throughout 2025 we will be sharing information about the Wellbeing programs here at MGPS.
NAPLAN Window
In 2025, NAPLAN will take place from Wednesday 12 to Monday 24 March.
Students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 who are enrolled at a school are expected to participate in 4 NAPLAN tests:
- writing
- reading
- conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation)
- numeracy.
All schools in NSW complete NAPLAN online. However, Year 3 students do the writing test on paper. Teachers will ensure students are familiar with the format of the tests before the NAPLAN test window.
Supporting your child
NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills your child is already learning at school.
It is important to remember that NAPLAN is not about passing or failing. It is about assessing learning progress.
The best approach for preparing your child for NAPLAN is to encourage your child to do the best they can on the day.
Excessive preparation or the use of coaching providers is not recommended.
If you have any questions about NAPLAN, please contact your child’s teacher in the first instance.
PSSA Zone Basketball
Congratulations to Addie and Emalie for being selected in the Zone Basketball team to attend the Northwest trials.
Three Way Interviews/ Conferences
In week 6, parents and carers are invited to attend three way conferences with their child's teacher. Bookings can be made through COMPASS.
What is a 3 Way Conference?
A 3-Way Conference actively involves parents, students and teachers in reflecting on student progress and setting future goals/targets.
A 3-Way Conference acknowledges the most important participants in the learning process - student, teacher and parent.
3 Way Conferences take time (15 minutes), and to ensure that all parents and students have the opportunity to meet with their class teacher, please choose an interview time from the availability lists for each class teacher which you will find in COMPASS.
Bookings will be closed on Thursday this week.
