Disability Inclusion at Concord School

We are gradually moving all our students from the Program for Students with Disability (PSD) to Disability Inclusion. The Disability Inclusion reform was rolled out at our school last year, and so far about 60 students have been transitioned to this new system. This year, we aim to complete approximately 80 Disability Inclusion Profiles. We are pleased to welcome Stacey Bilchouris, who will be supporting Disability Inclusion Profiles at the Lower Primary Section.
Disability Inclusion has two purposes for our school. Firstly, it is helping our school to continue to understand what each student requires to help them learn and participate at school. At Concord School, the staff are experts in providing programs, supports, adjustments and the right environment to support the individual needs of each of our amazing students. Secondly, the Disability Inclusion Profile replaces the Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) application process, and therefore is the process to provide funding to our school to have these supports in place.
Included in this new process is the Disability Inclusion Profile meeting. Parents or carers are contacted when their child requires a Disability Inclusion meeting and are invited to attend, along with their child. The Disability Inclusion Profile meeting discusses the strengths and goals of the student, as well as the supports and adjustments for the student.

Easy English resources about both the Disability Inclusion Profile (PDF) and the profile meeting itself (PDF) are available.
If you have any questions about Disability Inclusion, please feel free to phone the school at the Bundoora campus, and ask to speak to Rachael Macmillan, (Disability Inclusion Leader) or email me at Rachael.Macmillan@education.vic.gov.au.
