Learning and Teaching

Dear families,
As we come to the end of another busy and rewarding term, I want to take a moment to acknowledge just how proud I am of both our students and staff.
Walking through classrooms each day, I have had the privilege of seeing incredible learning taking place from Prep right through to Grade 6. Our students continue to amaze me with their curiosity, persistence and willingness to challenge themselves, while our staff consistently create engaging, knowledge-rich learning experiences that help every child grow. Whether in Literacy, Mathematics, Knowledge Rich Units, The Arts or Physical Education, there has been so much learning and so much to celebrate this term.
As we look ahead to an exciting Term 3, we're delighted to share the novels our students in Grades 3–6 will be studying.
- Grade 3: Charlotte's Web by E.B. White
- Grade 4: The Wild Robot by Peter Brown
- Grade 5: Convict Boy by Tom Appleby
- Grade 6: Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend
To help students get the most from these wonderful texts, we encourage families to consider listening to the audiobook over the holidays. This is particularly beneficial for students who find reading more challenging, but it is equally valuable for confident readers.
Listening to a story before and during classroom study helps build background knowledge, strengthen vocabulary and improve comprehension. Research tells us that experiencing a text in multiple ways, both visually and aurally, deepens understanding and allows students to engage more fully with the characters, themes and ideas they will explore in class.
These titles are available on platforms such as Audible and Spotify, making them easy to enjoy at home or on the way to school. Even listening to a chapter here and there over the holidays can make a meaningful difference when students begin their learning next term.
Thank you for your continued support throughout the term. It is a privilege to work alongside such dedicated staff and supportive families to help our students flourish.
I wish you all a safe, restful and well-deserved break. As for me, my first week of holidays will be spent proudly wearing my other hat as a dance mum, cheering on both of my daughters at their competitions!
