June 8th, 2026 Ivy
This week’s Superhero, Ivy from Studio 5A, is receiving this very special award for demonstrating the learning dispositions of Curious and Resilient. However, she is truly “super” in the way she consistently embodies all of our school values each and every day. Ivy is incredibly Curious. She arrives at school every day with a bright smile, eager to learn and ready to embrace new experiences. She is highly persistent and sets high expectations for herself, asking thoughtful questions to deepen her understanding. With an inquisitive mind and a love of learning, Ivy enjoys sharing her knowledge and expertise with others.
Ivy's class can always rely on her as a supportive learning friend who shows kindness, care and encouragement to everyone around her. This Superhero is also remarkably Resilient and organised. She approaches learning tasks with care, accuracy and attention to detail.
From the very beginning of her school journey, Ivy has consistently taken great pride in the presentation of her work— and she has some of the most meticulous handwriting in Foundation! This Prep student loves a challenge and perseveres through setbacks, continuing to try until she achieves her goal. Her quiet determination and positive mindset are true strengths.
Ivy enthusiastically participates in all aspects of school life and leads by example in everything she does, demonstrating responsibility well beyond her years. Studio 5A is incredibly lucky to have this week’s shining Superhero. Congratulations Ivy, you are very deserving!
June 15th Annalyse
Our Super Hero for this week is receiving the award for the school values of Respect and Responsibility.
This student is a kind and calm presence in our classroom. When others are talking, they listen carefully and respectfully, valuing the unique perspectives that others offer, and contributing their own ideas in a thoughtful and respectful way that adds value to our learning. This student is a kind and caring friend who shows empathy for others and offers support when needed.
During her transition, this student expressed that she was nervous about beginning Year 1. But she rose to the challenge and transitioned beautifully, setting as example for us all on how to treat others and how to approach our learning. She is quietly confident, focused and driven to succeed. She accepts feedback gracefully, incorporating suggestions to improve her work and showing pride in her personal growth and successes.
This student is a shining example of respect and responsibility in our school community. With a quiet determination, she works to develop her skills and abilities, finding happiness in her own progress. Her kind and positive presence makes Studio 2 a supportive and encouraging place to learn and grow.
Congratulations to Annalyse on being this week’s Super Hero!

However, students are encouraged to attend their scheduled appointments alongside you. Each interview is scheduled for 15 minutes and will be held between 9:00am and 4:30pm in your child’s regular classroom or specialist classroom.
Bookings are now open in the Conference section in Compass.
Mappen Travel Expo
Our Grade 5/6 students recently showcased their learning at the exciting Mappen Travel Expo, celebrating weeks of hard work, research and creativity.
Each Studio explored a different continent, including Europe, Asia, Africa, and South & Central America, with students becoming experts on a country of their choice. They spent many hours researching fascinating facts about their country and presenting their findings in a variety of engaging formats, including brochures, information reports, posters, and PowerPoint presentations.
The Expo was a wonderful opportunity for students to share their knowledge with classmates, teachers and visitors. Many students went above and beyond by bringing in traditional foods, wearing cultural clothing, or creating additional displays to bring their chosen country to life.
It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm, effort and pride students showed throughout the project. The Mappen Travel Expo was a fun and rewarding experience that allowed students to develop their research, presentation and communication skills while learning about the diverse cultures and countries of our world.
Be sure to check out the photos to see some of the incredible work on display!

French News
French Leaders Update:
Bonjour parents and carers! Kyneton Primary has started a French Leaders group for grade fives and sixes. We now have 20 student language leaders who are ready to promote and bring more French enthusiasm into our school. As the new French leaders, Madame Varga has prompted us to plan our first French school celebration, Bastille Day!
Bastille Day is France’s national day and a celebration marking the start of the French revolution. The French leaders are celebrating it by setting up a little café in the studio eight kitchen area. We are selling little treats worth two dollars each, so on July the 14, make sure to give your children two dollars to enjoy a mini treat at recess or lunch.
We are so excited to be planning this event, and we hope that it makes our school community excited too. Our goal is to make French an everyday part of our school. As part of being French leaders, we also want families to practise French words or phrases at home so the French culture is really celebrated everywhere. This month’s French phrase is Bon Appetit!!!! A popular French phrase used to mean enjoy and savour, this phrase is used before eating a meal in France and Canada. Can you try using it at home this week? We would really love for you to use it and mealtimes before tucking into your food.
Merci for supporting French at our school!!!!

Parents & Friends Association News
The Parents & Friends Association is calling on the wider KPS community for help with a special project. We are creating colourful bunting that can be used around the school for special assemblies, celebrations and stalls.
We would love support from anyone who can:
- Donate pieces of fabric (for those who can’t sew)
- Sew bunting in different shapes and sizes
Here are some pattern ideas to guide you, but it is completely up to you what shape, size or number of pieces you would like to make. Bunting can be hand sewn or machine sewn, and it certainly doesn’t need to be perfect. Deb in the office has already made a few sample pieces.
The P&F are also looking for someone who may be able to make a soft toy using old KPS uniforms. If you have this skill and would be willing to help, please contact Sarah Lockhart at sarah.lockhart2@education.vic.gov.au.
Thank you for supporting our school community. Every contribution, big or small, is greatly appreciated.
Canteen News
A big thank you to all the students and staff who sampled my Red Lentil Dahl and Green Tomato Ketchup this term. It has been wonderful to see students willing to try new foods and flavours.
One of the biggest hits this term was our frozen Dragonfruit Milk Icy Poles. Their bright pink colour certainly made them hard to resist!
We have also introduced a weekly Frittata special, available as either Vegetable or Bacon & Vegetable. These have been a popular addition to the menu and a great way to include extra vegetables in students' lunches.
If your family has a favourite recipe that you think the KPS community would enjoy, I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to send your suggestions through.
We also encourage students and parents to bring reusable containers when ordering pasta, sushi, or hot chocolates. Every little bit helps reduce paper and plastic waste around our school and supports our sustainability efforts.
Thank you for your continued support of the KPS Canteen.
Regards
Sarah Lockhart

Spare clothing and return of borrowed clothes
As we move into the wetter winter months, we are seeing an increase in muddy and wet conditions around the school grounds. Students are regularly reminded to stay away from muddy and wet areas during break times, and we would appreciate your support in reinforcing this message at home.
To help keep students comfortable throughout the day, we strongly encourage families to pack a spare change of clothes in their child's school bag, including socks and underwear where possible. Providing a change of clothes helps us to avoid having to send students home to be changed or contact families during the school day to bring replacement clothing to school.
We would also like to remind families to please return any borrowed clothing that has been sent home with your child. Our supply of spare clothes is becoming limited, and returning items promptly helps ensure we can support students who may need a change of clothing during the school day.
If you have any spare black pants/tracksuit pants, we would be very greatful to include these in our spare clothing stock. All sizes are appreciated.
Volunteer Induction Information
We welcome and value volunteers at KPS. Part of the process of becoming a volunteer is completing an induction with us.
If you wish to volunteer your time for any reason, please complete the induction pack below before your first visit.
This information is also available on Compass in the School Documents section
Medical Information and Medication Requirements
If your child requires medication at school, a medication authority form needs to be completed, and medication needs to be brought to the office to be stored safely. A first aid officer will be assigned to administer the medication. Students should not carry medication in their school bags.
Please inform the office if there are any changes to your child’s medical needs so the appropriate paperwork can be completed and procedures put in place to care for your child.

Uniform Ordering
Uniforms can be purchased in-store from Lowes in Lansell Square in Kangaroo Flat. Orders can also be placed online at www.lowes.com.au. Please see the price list below
Students Arriving Late
Students arriving late to school should come to the office, accompanied by an adult, and sign in either on the Compass Kiosk or in the late book. They will then be issued a late pass to take to class, and their arrival at school will be updated on the roll. This will avoid parents/guardians receiving notification that their child is not at school when they have arrived late.
Early Collection of Students from School
We understand that there are many reasons why you might need to collect students from school early, however, we ask that you please keep these to a minimum where possible.
Our school PA system works by buildings so when an announcement is made it will be heard throughout the whole building and the closest relocatable classroom. These announcements are very disruptive, especially when some days announcements are being made on numerous occasions within short periods. These disruptions have an impact on student learning.
We ask for your assistance with some strategies to assist with this matter:
- Email the teacher and the office early in the day with the time you will be collecting your child/ren so we can, hopefully, have them waiting at the office for you.
- When possible, collect your child just before recess (11 – 11:40am) or lunchtime (1:40 – 2:20pm) rather than during the middle of class times.
- Announcements for collecting children will not be made during class time. If you need to collect your child during class time please come to the office to sign your child/ren out as an early departure and then go to the classroom to collect them.
We understand there can be emergencies, however, we hope you will give your support and enable all children to receive as much learning as possible.
School Gates and Opening Times
Our school gates open at 8:45am each day with classes commencing at 9am. School grounds can be accessed via the Edgecombe St pedestrian gate, the kindergarten ramp and the back gate at the bottom of our basketball courts. Please DO NOT use the staff car park or stairs to access the school.
Accessing Compass
Compass is our main way of communicating with our families. It is important that parents access the Parental Portal in Compass at https://kynetonps.vic.jdlf.com.au
Using our parent portal will enable you to –
- View up-to-date class and school attendance information
- Approve or enter upcoming or past absences for your son/daughter
- Update your registered email and mobile number (used for SMS alters)
- Access information regarding upcoming events and news
- Access your child’s Semester Reports
- Book your Parent/Student/Teacher conferences
We encourage families to download the Compass App and to enable notifications to ensure you receive all communications.
Please click on the “Welcome to Compass” booklets for further assistance or contact the office.
Carpark Safety
We would like to address some important safety concerns regarding carpark use, and we kindly ask for your cooperation.
Kindergarten Carpark
Please do not park in the kindergarten carpark. This carpark is reserved exclusively for kindergarten families. If you have both kindergarten and school-aged children and need to park there, please ensure you use the ramp to access the school grounds.
Please also note that the large gate at the end of the kindergarten car park and the school is locked and should not be used to access the school — children should not be lifted over the gate under any circumstances.
School Carpark
The school carpark has vehicles moving in and out throughout the day. For safety reasons, we ask that pedestrians do not use the stairs near the flag poles and then walk through the carpark as a shortcut. The designated ramp or steps are to be used when entering or exiting the school.
Thank you for your support in helping keep all members of our school and kindergarten community safe.
