Winter Uniform Reminder

As we move into the cooler months, we would like to remind all students and families of our uniform expectations at Balmoral State High School.

Our school uniform is an important part of our identity. It promotes a sense of belonging, pride, equity and safety while reinforcing the high expectations we have for every student. We appreciate the ongoing support of our families in ensuring students arrive at school each day in the correct uniform, ready to learn.

Last term, we communicated clear expectations regarding consistent hair colour and the requirement for students to wear black shoes only with the formal uniform throughout the school week. We would also like to remind families that facial piercings and non-approved jewellery are not permitted under the Balmoral State High School Dress Standard. These expectations contribute to a safe, inclusive, and professional learning environment and apply to all students.

As the weather becomes cooler, students are expected to wear Balmoral State High School jumpers only. Hoodies, branded sportswear, and other non-school jumpers are not part of the approved school uniform and should not be worn. Students who arrive wearing a non-approved jumper will be reminded of the school's expectations and directed to follow the Uniform Correction Process. Where students deliberately and repeatedly choose not to comply with these expectations after reminders and support have been provided, this may be addressed through the school's behaviour processes as a refusal to follow a reasonable direction.

We recognise that there may be occasions when a student does not have their school jumper available. In these circumstances, students can borrow a school jumper for the day through our Uniform Correction Process. This ensures students remain warm, continue learning without disruption and can meet the school's dress standards. Our loan process is an important part of our commitment to equity, ensuring that financial or unforeseen circumstances do not become a barrier to attending school and participating fully in learning. We ask families to support this process by ensuring borrowed items are returned promptly so they remain available for other students.

Where students continue to be out of uniform, or where ongoing concerns are identified, members of our staff will contact families to discuss the circumstances and determine whether any additional support is required. Our priority is always to work in partnership with families to ensure students can meet our expectations while accessing the support they need.

The Balmoral State High School Dress Standard forms part of the Enrolment Agreement that all students and parents/carers acknowledge upon enrolment. Our expectation is that all members of our school community continue to uphold these agreed standards. By maintaining consistent expectations and working together, we strengthen our culture of pride, respect and belonging, ensuring every student is ready to achieve their personal best.
