1/2DS

We've been working hard, learning lots and having fun this term in 1/2DS.
Here is a snapshot of some of what we've been working on.
Mathematics
Every Maths lesson begins with reviewing skills we have learnt - a week ago, 2 weeks ago, a month or more ago. This helps us to recall maths facts and strategies more quickly and confidently.
Sometimes we play Maths games to help us practise number skills. Recently we enjoyed playing two maths games that help us practise our partitions of ten. Here we are playing "Salute" and "Make Ten." These are games that can easily be played at home.
So far in Maths this term, our main topics have been 'Location', 'Time', 'Mass and Capacity' and soon we will work on 'Data'.
The photos below show us estimating how many informal units will have the same mass different classroom objects, then checking our estimates by measuring using balance scales.
Literacy
We have loved learning about the Solar System in our Literacy lessons this term. We gathered facts about the Solar System and learned how to organise our information in paragraph. For most of us, this was the first time we have tried writing paragraphs.
Another first for many of us was creating an information poster about the Solar System.
You can see our efforts below.
Religion
Our main focus this term was God's Creation. We thought about the precious gifts God has given us in Creation and the ways we can do our bit to look after our world and be stewards of Creation.
We also paused on Rembrance Day to give thanks for those who have fought in wars.
Here is some of our work...
It's been busy, but it's been great!
