Principals Report

Dear Parents, Families and Friends,

A special occasion to celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of Mary, commemorating her dedication to God at the temple, was held with great joy and enthusiasm at our school today. This significant occasion provided an opportunity to deepen our connection with the Presentation Sisters and honour their enduring legacy within our community. Students and staff came together for a whole-school Mass, which was a meaningful time of prayer and reflection.

Adding to the joy of the day, we also celebrated Grandparents Day, honouring the special role grandparents play in the lives of our families. Grandparents bring a unique warmth and joy to family life — always ready with a story, a helping hand, or a comforting hug. They are often the ones who care for children with patience and love, offering steady support and sharing in the everyday moments that make family life so rich and meaningful.

The celebration continued with a variety of wet play activities, including a giant water slide and human hamster wheels (zorb balls). We were delighted to open these activities to our younger members of the community, with children from our playgroup and kindergarten joining in the fun. A delicious celebratory cake was shared, symbolising the unity and spirit of our community.

The energy and enthusiasm of our students highlighted the importance of creating moments that not only honour our traditions but also bring our community closer together. It was truly a day to remember, filled with faith, fun, and a sense of belonging.

Energy Breakthrough

Students have been working incredibly hard in the lead-up to this year’s Energy Breakthrough. Over the past few weeks they have been completing practice runs, learning how to handle their vehicles safely, and participating in team training sessions. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they fine-tune their skills. We’ve also captured plenty of great photos of the teams in action, showing just how committed—and excited—they are. The atmosphere around the school is buzzing as we count down to next week’s big challenge.

A heartfelt thank you to all our parents who have already put their hand up to help on the day. Your generosity and willingness to support our students is truly appreciated. We would also like to acknowledge the parents who have assisted throughout the training period—whether by supervising practice sessions, helping with mechanical checks, or transporting our vehicles to and from school. Your time, effort, and encouragement have played a huge role in helping our teams get ready.

Our school will be in Maryborough for three days for the event, and we warmly invite any families who are able to come along and visit us during this time. It’s a fantastic opportunity to see the students in action, experience the excitement of the event, and cheer on our teams. We look forward to an amazing few days ahead.

In other news, St Mary's is pleased to share the excellent results from our recent School Engagement Surveys, which gathered feedback from students, staff, and parents. It was wonderful to see improvements from last year, reflecting our ongoing commitment to growth and collaboration. While there is always room for improvement, we continue to reflect and take action in key areas to ensure the best outcomes for our school community. Compared to other CESL schools, St Mary’s scored above average in nearly all areas, with particularly strong results in several key measures. A fantastic achievement. This data will be used to inform our direction with our 2026 Annual Action Plan.

Kind Regards,
