Claymation

One of the ICT projects that Grade 5/6 students undertake is to produce a claymation (stop-motion) animated film. In groups, students research, write scripts, create plasticine characters, build sets and film the animation frame by frame using an iPad. The end result is a class film complete with titles and music. In 2024, Mr Gamble’s class created their class film on the history of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS). They are like the air ambulance of outback Australia and carry medical emergencies from remote places to hospital.
For fun, we sent it up to the head office of the RFDS. It was very warmly received! The Director of Brand & Communications of the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Canberra is Lana Howarth. She loved watching it and said,
“What an absolutely amazing video animation! Thank you so much for sharing it. I have shared it with all the staff here in my office!”
Congratulations to the following Grade 6 students who were part of this wonderful project last year: Madelyn, Gwen, Lilah, Oliver, Angus, Anabelle, Rafael, Valee, Noah, Mason and Steven.
Excellent work everyone!
