Science Sparks in Our Classroom! 

This semester, our science lessons have been bursting with excitement, exploration, and hands-on discovery! Our young scientists have been busy experimenting, observing, and using all their senses to learn more about the world around them. 

One of our highlights has been our fantastic incursions. During the Rockpool Discovery Incursion, the students had the amazing opportunity to get up close and personal with fascinating sea creatures. Everyone showed wonderful curiosity and respect as they waited patiently for their turn. When encouraged to smell, touch, and explore the animals, they did so using all their senses to investigate textures, shapes, and even the smell of the sea! 

Another special Science moment was observing our newly hatched baby chicks. The students showed great interest in watching the chicks move, make sounds, and explore their new surroundings. They communicated beautifully using both visuals and words to describe what they saw and how the chicks looked and felt — a wonderful learning experience for everyone. 

In the classroom, our students have loved conducting experiments and investigations. They have extended their scientific thinking through a range of inquiry-based activities, confidently communicating observations and sorting their findings using visuals. The students especially enjoyed exploring temperature in our Hot vs. Cold experiment and was thrilled by the excitement of the Mentos and Coke reaction! All the students participate during our cooking sessions, carefully following a visual schedule to make chocolate muffins, pancakes, and pizza — a delicious way to explore science in everyday life! 

Visiting the chickens and feeding the bunny have continued to be favourite weekly activities, helping the students understand how to care for living things and observe their needs up close. 

This semester has been full of curiosity, and many moments of discovery. We are so proud of how all the students have engaged with Science — experimenting, observing, and sharing their fabulous ideas every step of the way!
