Co-Curricular - Junior Sport Stage 3

It has been great to see all the boys back into the full swing of summer sport. With a full week of training behind us, all our teams were able to be competitive against their opposition. There is an obvious improvement in skill level and understanding across all teams from Term 1 and this has resulted in many teams winning their fixtures over the weekend. This Saturday will be the halfway mark for the Term 4 summer season. This is the time to really dive deep into training and push your limits. Working hard to gain a new skill and concrete old ones. I wish all our teams the very best for the weekend’s fixtures.

Following on from last week’s Especean, Malietau Davis (Year 6 Black) competed in the NSWPSSA Athletics Carnival. Malietau had a very successful competition coming 15th in Shot Put and 3rd in Discus throwing a personal best of 41.85m. Malietau gains selection for NSW in Discus, and we congratulate him on an outstanding performance. This will be the second time this year that Malietau has represented NSW, having made the NSW side for Rugby Union earlier in the year.

The Junior School House Swimming Carnival will take place on Friday 14 November at Birrong Leisure and Aquatic Centre. Parents/carers are warmly invited to come and watch for part or all of the day. There are parking spots at the venue and plenty of street parking as well. Please be aware that there is an entry cost for spectators of around $4.90. We hope to see many of you there cheering on the boys.

All boys will be bused to the venue, with buses leaving the College promptly at 8:30 AM. At the conclusion of the carnival, boys may be collected from the venue, however parents/carers must forward emails to their son’s class teacher prior to the event. Friends will not be permitted to go home from the venue with you unless class teachers have been informed via email before the Swimming Carnival day.

The Summer Sport and Representative Presentation Evening will be held on Friday 21 November in the College Gymnasium. Families are asked to be seated at 5:45 PM for a 6:00 PM start. The night should be an intimate affair and will see the awarding of the more prestigious awards with age champions, representatives for IPSHA, CIS and NSW awarded and the coveted Junior School Sportsman of the Year. I look forward to seeing you there.

“To me, teamwork is the beauty of our sport, where you have all acting as one. You become selfless.”                                                                                         Mike Krzyzewski
