Basketball
On Saturday we welcomed St Stanislaus’ College, Bathrust to the SPC Gymnasium for Round 1 of the ISA competition. There were some huge defensive efforts from Alexander Moulten and Dominic Moses who were making their official debut for the First V and Lewis Massih made some clutch plays at the finish, making at great start to his second season in the Black Jersey. After a tough season of development, this great start to the 2025/2026 season shows tremendous promise, and we look forward to all the hard work paying off.
Golf
It was another tough week of Golf at SPC as we faced a very strong St Aloysius’ College at Massey Park. Three out of four SPC Golfers went down in tight contests, but Jack McDonald managed to pick up a win with his brand-new set of clubs. We look forward to what this week brings when we take on Scots College at Woollahra Golf Club.
Baseball
It was another tough week for the First IX as they took on a very formidable Knox Grammar side, going down 12-2. More good pitching from Heath Patterson, Nino Di Girolamo led the way with the bat, and all involved were very strong defensively, making no errors. The scoreboard was not a true reflection of the contest and there are many good signs to come.
Congratulations to the U14 team who managed to pick up their first win of the season over Rosebank. Special mention to Luka Pyanic, Jet Nguyen and Jayden Chow who all pitched an inning and did so very well. Coach Mr Tabbara and MIC Mrs Warsop were both very proud of the effort and are very excited about what is to come.
Cricket
Saturday was a very successful day for SPC Cricket! The First XI had a very strong win over Oxley College; congratulations to Flynn Bugden, Liam Garrett, William Malone, Luke Maronese, Aidan Scullion, Ryan Scullion, Alex Stewart, and Lachlan Wodson who all made their First XI ISA debut and special mention to Ronan O’Neill who scored 81 not out.
The Second XI had another strong week defeating Oakhill College’s Second XI 164 to 147. Special mention to Kian White who scored 51 runs and Hamish Ellston who got four wickets. In Thunder Cricket, congratulations to the 16 Blue and 13 Black teams who both picked up strong wins.
