Grade 5 & 6
Term 4 Week 3
It’s been another exciting few weeks in the 5/6 Learning Community!
In Mathematics, students have been exploring the concept of location, using coordinates and mapping skills to describe positions and movement. They’ve also been revising their knowledge of 2D and 3D shapes, identifying features, classifying different shapes, and investigating how they connect to objects in the real world. Alongside this, students have been revisiting whole number concepts, strengthening their understanding of place value, operations, and problem-solving strategies.
In Literacy, we’ve begun reading our new focus text, A Ghost in My Suitcase by Gabrielle Wang. This captivating novel has sparked rich discussions about identity, culture, and belonging, as students explore the characters, themes, and the author’s use of language. We’re looking forward to diving deeper into this story and using it to inspire our own creative and analytical writing.
It’s wonderful to see students engaging thoughtfully and enthusiastically across all areas of learning!
Next week, the grade 5 students will be bringing home information regarding their leadership speeches.
