Principal's Report

Tim Furphy, Principal

Week 6 here we are. I think I say this every fortnightly newsletter, but I have no idea where time is going. I Can't believe we're over the halfway mark of term. This fortnight has been a busy one. We've had:

  • F/1 Sleepover
  • Grade 5/6 prep for puberty
  • Bike Skills excursion
  • G6 transition excursion

Looking ahead, some things on the calendar:

  • 2026 Foundation transition sessions
  • Kitchen Garden (week 8/9)
  • NPS Bake Sale (week 9, 3rd December) - Students will work on this in class throughout the leadup
  • NPS Bush Dance (Friday 12th December)
  • Grade 6 day out and graduation

NPS Bush Dance

This year's rotation of end of year events is our Christmas bush dance. Those that have been before will know what fun it is. Students have been and will continue to learn a couple of dances to celebrate the end of year.  Put your dancing shoes on and be ready for some crowd participation, this will be held in the evening of Friday 12th December, with more detailed information to follow.

End of Year Reports

Staff are finalising assessment results and preparing this information for the final school report for 2025. This will be made available to families via Compass the last week of school.

Sustainability Presentation

Next Wednesday Jacqueline and I will be taking a small group of students to Melbourne to share our experiences with sustainability practices in our school. This is recognition for the great work Libby Fullard has put in over many years. I'm excited for our kids to share what's going on at our school. Here is a small section of our invite...

The Department of Education is inviting you and your student action team to participate in a meeting with the Climate Change Committee, a group of Deputy Secretaries and Executive Directors who help shape policies and programs to support Victoria’s education system in reducing environmental impact and adapting to climate change.

Your school has been invited in recognition of the strong leadership shown by you and the inspiring student-led initiatives you’ve been driving in sustainability and climate action. Your contribution will help shape future decisions and inform how the department can better support the work happening on the ground.

That's all from me, take a look at other sections of the newsletter to see what's been happening. If you haven't already, also keep an eye out for "Newham News", a newsletter from the kids of all the goings on around our school.
