Principals Report
We are now moving quickly towards the end of term four, and the end of 2025 as a school year. In fact, there are now only 15 school days left between now and the summer holidays. At this time of the year schools become particularly busy as a great deal of planning work in action is required to ensure a successful end into one year and a positive, productive and smooth start to the next.
‘Meet the Teacher' sessions
Plans are underway for activities to support students as they transition to their 2026 classes. ‘Meet the Teacher' sessions provide an opportunity for students to meet their new teacher and classmates, begin building new relationships, participate in collaborative activities and learn about the exciting experiences that await them next year.
Tuesday 9th December is the state-wide transition day. On this day, our Year 6 students will attend their 2026 government secondary schools, and all new students joining our school will be welcomed to take part in our 'Meet the Teacher' sessions.
In 2026 our school will increase by one grade so we will have 26 classes. The school structure will be:
4 Foundation Grades 4 Grade 1’s 4 Grade 2’s 4 Grade 3’s
3 Grade 4’s 3 Grade 5’s 4 Grade 6’s
MENTAL HEALTH WELLBEING LEADER
Another exciting announcement is the addition of a Mental Health & Wellbeing Leader (MHWL) position at our school. This is the result of specific government funding, which for our school is 0.6 or 3 days per week.
MHWLs are qualified teachers who work across the school to implement a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing for students, staff, and families based on a broad knowledge of the needs of the school community. This includes:
- building the capacity of school staff, in particular classroom teachers, to identify and support students with mental health concerns in the classroom
- supporting the school to create clear referral pathways internally (within school) and externally (to community services) for students identified as requiring further assessment and intervention
coordinating targeted mental health support for students by working with regional staff, school wellbeing and leadership teams, teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies.
The MHWL role focuses on mental health and wellbeing promotion, prevention and early intervention, rather than the implementation of clinical or allied health approaches.
MHWLs will receive training from the Faculty of Education at the University of Melbourne.
We recently completed a local based merit and equity process and are pleased to announce the Michelle Turner will be our MHWL starting next year. Stay tuned for more information in future newsletters!
Facility News
We are currently replacing the broken concrete retaining wall along the far end of the oval. The raised areas of the oval caused by tree roots is also being rectified.
School Community Helpers- Thank You Morning Tea
It has been a productive and rewarding year in terms of community engagement and fundraising efforts that could not have happened without the many hours that have been volunteered throughout the year. The staff would like to thank and acknowledge the wonderful efforts of our parent community in 2025.
If you have helped at an event, sizzled a sausage, pulled a weed out of the garden, been a class rep, attended an excursion, helped in the classroom or helped out in any way, we invite you to the staffroom on Monday 15th December at 2:45 pm for afternoon tea to say thank you for being a school community helper in 2025.
Morning Tea with the Principal
The winners of the silent auction item - Morning tea with the principal was won by Spencer Cortissos and family. We had a great time sharing Thai milk tea and some favourite treats, even a homemade mars bar slice from Spencer, while discussing our favourite school activities and our best holidays. Thank you to all concerned - it was a lovely morning!

Last Assembly
We will have our last assembly on Friday 19 December at 9.15am. We will have a performance from the Rock choir as well as the graduation dance by the grade 6 students and final announcements. The last assembly is also a time to farewell our departing grade 6 families and teachers and introduce our new teaching teams for 2026.
The last day of school will be Friday 19th December and an early finish-1pm dismissal.
