Celebrate the Journey

As the school year draws to a close, I’m sure we all find ourselves reflecting on the remarkable range of achievements of our students and everything the year has brought. Each year the boys are presented with the challenges and promises of another new year and each year they rise to the task of tackling all that the year asks and expects of them.  I’m sure the boys would tell us, regardless of whether they’re in Year 4 or Year 12 that their year has been filled with challenges, triumphs, and many moments of personal growth. From classrooms to sporting fields, from artistic and creative pursuits to Christian Service, the boys at Trinity College demonstrate a true sense of what it means to be a Man for Others with resilience, determination, and camaraderie that embodies the TC Spirit of our community.  It’s a special privilege of the teaching vocation to be a part of the formation of young lives every day, and to be a companion on the journey each year.

This week has been no exception with the Year 9s concluding their Becoming Men Program with The Return on Thursday afternoon.  In their closing comments, our Year 9 Formation staff noted ‘Tonight marks the end of your Year 9 experience – an experience which has, no doubt, provided you with many challenges to overcome, but hopefully just as many successes. And this is only a part of the journey of your time here as Trinity College students which will ultimately lead to adulthood’. Just as Christian pilgrimage isn’t just a long walk, but a sacred journey that symbolises a path toward God, offering transformation, healing, and deeper connection to faith, so too our Becoming Men program isn’t just another pastoral program, but forms part of an important symbolic journey from childhood into adulthood which like pilgrimage, offers encounter with self and others, change, and communion with community .

This morning, our final Assembly for the year aptly celebrated student achievement and effort and is the final assembly across Junior and Senior School to do so throughout each year. When we also include Junior and Senior Presentation Evening awards, almost 850 students have been recognised with well over 1100 awards throughout 2025.  As a College, we look for every opportunity to acknowledge every student who works hard and tries hard, and both are an abundant reality with our boys.  An A-ward is a most deserved Re-ward for all the boys’ dedication and effort.

As we move into the very last week of this school year, before we set our sights on Christmas and the summer break, let’s genuinely celebrate all the achievements of the boys, congratulate them with full enthusiasm, and most importantly, cheer the character and TC Spirit of each of them that makes us such a special community. Each boy has contributed to the unique story of 2025. The story isn’t complete without each of them being a connected part of it.

Live Jesus in our hearts.
