Student Engagement & Wellbeing

Louise Amor,  Liam Price, Liam Offer, Shannon Argall & Dan Garner

As the days continue to get longer, it’s hard to believe we are already approaching the halfway point of Term 3! With warmer spring weather still a little way off and the cold mornings still here, please make sure students are dressed appropriately for the school day.

Grade 6 School Visits

It has been very exciting seeing our 2026 Year 7 cohort start their visits to our college. Our transition program supports the step from primary school into secondary school and allows students to start to meet staff and become familiar with their surroundings and our expectations.

Koorie Pathways Expo

Last week, a number of Horsham College Koorie students attended the Goolum Goolum Careers Pathway Expo. This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to start to investigate pathway options for their future. This day was an incredible day full of great opportunities and a day to continue to strengthen partnerships between schools and community.

Subject Selection Day

Thank you to those families who attended our recent  Subject Selection Days. This event  is an important milestone in shaping our students’ future pathways. It provides a valuable opportunity for students, parents, and teachers to come together and engage in meaningful conversations about learning, interests, and career aspirations. These discussions help guide students towards making informed choices that align with their strengths, passions, and goals. We would like to sincerely thank all parents and students who attended and actively participated in these conversations, as well as our dedicated staff for their time, expertise, and support in guiding students through this process.

For students who are yet to submit their subject selection forms, we ask that these be completed as soon as possible. This will help ensure that students have the best chance of securing their preferred subjects for the year ahead. Subject Selection Day is not just about choosing subjects—it’s about opening doors to future opportunities, and we are proud of the way our school community works together to support every student on their journey.

Wellbeing Reminder

As assessment deadlines and school commitments increase, it is important for students to find a healthy balance between academic work and personal wellbeing. Building resilience starts with small, consistent habits—getting enough rest, eating well, and taking short breaks to recharge.

Prioritising tasks, setting realistic goals, and asking for help when needed are all part of managing busy periods successfully.

Ready to Learn – Setting Yourself Up for Success

Being ready to learn is about more than just turning up—it’s about making sure you have everything you need to make the most of each lesson. This means arriving on time, bringing all the right books, equipment, and devices, and having a positive mindset to get involved in class activities. When you come prepared, you give yourself the best chance to stay on track, keep up with your work, and feel confident in your learning. It also shows respect for your teachers and classmates, helping the whole class move forward together.

Remember: small habits like punctuality, being organised, and taking responsibility for your learning build skills that will help you not just at school, but well into the future.
