Celebrating St Ignatius Feast Day Through Passion-Based Activities
On July 31st, our school community came together to celebrate the Feast Day of St Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits and a man whose life was shaped by deep reflection, purpose, and service.
To honour his legacy in a way that resonated with our students, teachers across the school led a wide range of passion activities based on their unique interests. In the lead-up to the day, students were invited to nominate the activity they felt most drawn to. Activities on offer for the students included cooking, song writing, drawing, karaoke, dancing, lego bricq motion and volleyball.
St Ignatius’ story reminds us that when we align our passions with service and intention, we grow not just as learners, but as people. We thank our staff for their creativity and commitment, and our students for embracing the activities with such enthusiasm.
Year 5/6 Excursion to the MCG
A great day out for our 5/6 students. We travelled by tram to the MCG and then spent the morning learning about its history and how it operates. It was exciting to go underground to the club rooms and see the entrances where the players, both AFL players and cricketers come out and onto the field. There were many people at work cleaning windows and finely mowing the grass. Our students had a lot of fun playing the interactive games and learning some new skills like surfing! After our tour of the MCG we enjoyed lunch and a play in the park before catching the train back to school. As a way of reflecting on the day students wrote a response to ‘What would you do if you owned the MCG for one day? Here are some of our students responses.

Jasia
If I owned the MCG for one day I would talk to the prime minister one day before I own the MCG and convince him and all the taxis and Ubers to pick up all the homeless people in their vehicles for free! The next day I would get them to drop the homeless people at the MCG and I would be there to greet them. I would say, "You have this whole place to yourself".
Tilda
If owned the MCG for one day I would play hide and seek and tag with all of my friends, even the ones from my old school. Then I would put on a game, like AFL, and give all the money to the homeless. I would do all this to have some fun, see my old friends and help people.
James
If I owned the MCG for one day I would invite my friends so we could play a giant game of hide and seek for the entire day. I would also hire a private chef to cook for me and my friends, and I would sleep there on the field all night.
Charlie
If I owned the MCG for one day I would host four games of football.
