CURRICULUM FOCUS
This week in Respectful Relationships, Grade 2, students will describe how to use strengths to be a good friend and family member.
VOCABULARY
Strength: Something you are really good at, like being kind, helping others, or solving problems.
Kindness: Doing nice things for others, like helping, sharing, or saying kind words to make someone feel happy.
Listening: Paying attention to what someone is saying and showing that you care about their words and feelings.
Sharing: Letting others use or have some of what you have, like your toys, snacks, or time.
Good Friend: Someone who is kind, listens, helps, and plays with others in a fair and caring way. Being a good friend means treating others with respect
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Think about your Strengths: Talk with a family member about what you’re good at. Are you good at sharing, helping, listening, or being kind? Choose one strength you want to focus on this week.
Acts of Kindness:
At Home: Use your strength to help someone in your family. For example, if you're good at helping, you might help clean up after dinner. If you're good at listening, you can listen to someone talk about their day.
For a Friend: Think of how you can use your strength to be a good friend at school. Maybe you can share with a friend or include someone in a game.
Draw and Write: Draw a picture showing how you used your strength to help someone. Write one sentence about what you did.
For example:
"I used my strength of sharing to let my brother use my toys."
Bonus: Talk with your family about how they use their strengths to be good friends and family members too!
