Foundation / Year 1
Welcome back for Term 4! It’s hard to believe we’re already in the final term of the year, and what a journey it has been. We are so proud of all the progress the students have made, and we look forward to seeing even more growth as we head into the last stretch of the year.
To start the term, we have a strong literacy focus on our reading groups where students can work on letter sounds that match their area of need in small groups. Our texted based unit is Rose meets Mr Wintergarten. In this unit students will learn about story elements, including character descriptions, and learn about parts of speech. In Maths we begin the term learning about division where students will use hands on materials to share between groups.
Year 2
Welcome back to our final term for 2024, I hope you all enjoyed the break. We can’t believe we have already reached Term 4! Another term of lots of learning and school events. We are all looking forward to seeing even more growth as we head into the last stretch of the year.
To begin the term, we’re working with the book ‘Ella and the ocean’ by Lian Tanner, for our text base unit in Literacy. We’re starting to work on graphs in Maths, where students will use a range of methods to collect, record, represent and interpret data in response to questions. Our Inquiry topic is, ‘Robot Buddies’, studentswill learn about the properties of different materials and consider which materials they should use to build their robot. During Religion, our unit will focus on Advent as a time of waiting and preparation and build on the arrangements they and their families make in the lead up to Christmas.
Year 3/4
We hope you had a restful break and are feeling refreshed and ready for the exciting term ahead! As we enter our final stretch for the year, we have many engaging activities and learning opportunities planned. We are confident that together, we will continue to grow and achieve great things within our classrooms.
Let’s make this term a memorable one by supporting each other and striving to do our best every day. We look forward to working with you all to ensure a successful and enjoyable Term 4!
Year 5/6
We are delighted to report that students have returned to Term 4 with incredible energy and enthusiasm, ready to make the most of the exciting learning opportunities ahead in the next eleven weeks.
This week, our focus on Recount Writing has allowed students to reflect thoughtfully on their holiday experiences, producing some very engaging and entertaining pieces.
In Mathematics, students have been exploring Graphing and Data, where they are learning how to interpret information through visual representation—an essential skill for understanding patterns and trends in the world around us. They are also creating their own graphs related to real life collection of data eg. The weather forecast.
Our new Inquiry Topic, Bizarre Bazaar, has sparked great excitement among the students. This hands-on, creative unit will provide them with opportunities to design, innovate, and craft unique creations. We can’t wait to see the imaginative processes and outcomes as their ideas come to life!
It's wonderful to be back for Term 4! Everyone has entered the space ready to learn and thrive.
