Learning In My Level
A celebration of what's happening across the school!
Level 3 students have had a fantastic term that has been full of many highlights! One of those significant highlights was heading off to Camp ADANAC. It was a fantastic experience for all students, staff and volunteers who kindly offered to assist on the 3-day adventure. A big thank you to all Level 3 families for supporting the school in preparation for this wonderful experience for our students. It was a huge success with many memories made!
Students enjoyed engaging in this term’s learning as well as partaking in many other curriculum activities throughout a very busy and fun term.
Literacy
In Reading, students have practised developing their fluency and comprehension strategies for a range of text types. There has been a focus on ‘summarising’ and ‘synthesising’ texts and students have demonstrated a fantastic understanding of these reading skills.
Students have continued ‘Word Work’ this term, which involves ongoing practice and implementation of grammar skills and phonemic awareness. Each week’s focus has been incorporated into our weekly homework.
In Writing, students have developed their understanding and skills around procedural and information text types. They have developed their vocabulary associated with these writing genres and have created their own individual writing pieces.
Maths
This term, Level 3 students have continued to develop their understanding of number patterns and well as been introduced to fractions, mapping, symmetry and data collection. It has been wonderful to see students apply their understanding of mathematics to real-life experiences.
Inquiry
This term, students engaged in enriched, meaningful wellbeing learning throughout lessons implemented from The Resilience Project. There was an ongoing focus on cyber safety and digital wellbeing with engaging lessons run through the Cyber Safety Project, which will continue to run for the remainder of the year.
For our Unit of Inquiry, our topic “First Nations Connection to Country and Place”, students have learnt about the diversity and longevity of Australia’s first peoples. This included learning about the ways they are connected to Country and Place (land, sea, waterways and skies) and the implications for their daily lives. Students applied their learning during our excursions to CERES and the Melbourne Museum which provided a great opportunity for students to make meaningful connections to the inquiry topic.
Flora & Fauna
This term, students have enjoyed continuing their activities during Flora and Fauna which has included science explorations, cooking, sustainability and gardening. Students particularly enjoyed making pizzas and springs rolls during their cooking rotation.
What a wonderful Term 3 it has been in Level 3! Thank you for your ongoing support and we look forward to a fantastic last term with the Level 3 superstar students.
