Principal's Report

Flexible. Resilient. Positive. 2024

We have come to the end of Term 3 and what an amazing Term we have had at Rangeview!

In the last two weeks we have had our Level 3 students attend 3 days of camp at ADANAC, our senior boys compete in State T-Ball, our Foundation students had a Teddy Bears Picnic, our Rangeview Fathering Tribe (RAFT) together with wonderful Ryan Evans held the annual Rangeview LEGO Masters Event, our Level 5 and 6 students all went into the City for a City Walk Excursion then they rebounded quickly ready for 5/6 Interschool Sport, all of our teaching teams had a day of planning together to get their curriculum ready for Term 4, and the whole school has celebrated Billy Cart and Footy Colours Day today!

T-Ball State Champions

A massive congratulations to our fantastic boys T-Ball Team who took out the State Finals on Wednesday 11th September. With Rangeview ahead, the game had to be abandoned towards the finish due to inclement weather. Our gracious team agreed to a draw with Marymeade Catholic College, and despite the disappointment for the team at the need to end the game prematurely, we are so proud of their sportsmanship. Congratulations to Mitch Clark who coached this team so diligently to victory!

Rangeview Oktoberfest Fair

Our fabulous Parents and Friends Committee have been hard at work organising and preparing for our Rangeview Oktoberfest Fair. This event is happening on Sunday 20th October from 12pm - 5pm.

There will be carnival rides, market stalls, food trucks, delicious Indian curries, side shows and much, much more. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased using the QR below.

If you haven't already, please sign up to assist on the day. The QR code to volunteer is below.

Annual Billy Cart and Footy Colours Day

We have had a hugely successful Billy Cart Day today and it was just wonderful to see so many families in attendance to cheer on the little racers. Thank you to Noel Jones Mitcham for the wonderful Coffee Cart! Well done to all the parents who made Billy Carts and brought them up to the school for this race. A huge thank you to Liam Sommers for organising this event, and to all of the staff that made it possible on the day - Mitch Clark, Megan Campbell, Ian Barr, Aimee Mackenzie, Meg Hubbard (for coaching the Grade 3 cheer group), and of course our compares Josh Godwin and Dave Torr.

Please see the Wellbeing and Engagement page for photos from this wonderful event.

SeekTRU LostnFound

Next Term Rangeview is hoping to trial a new Lost Property management system called SeekTRU. This system will be available for families that choose to use it and will offer users a numerical code to add to your child's clothing labels and other belongings. When we find your items at school, if they have a code the school will scan it to send you a notification to your phone. You will then be aware that your child's item has been found and is ready for collection at Lost Property. We hope that this will remove the time wasted when families look through Lost Property and do not find their items.

When the model is ready to use we will contact families and those who choose can start to use the service. Families who prefer not to use this system can continue to label items with the student's name - and grade.

There will not be a cost for the use of the system in the trial period - there will be a minimal cost following this. Families can opt in or out at any time.

Curriculum Days Term 4

Rangeview will be holding two pupil free Curriculum Days in Term 4. The first is Monday 4th November - this is preceding the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday, and the second is Tuesday 26th November. Our staff will be attending professional learning on the new Victorian Curriculum 2.0, the Disability Inclusion Model, and our annual First Aid and Anaphylaxis training.

Our Before and After School Care provider TheirCare will be open for any families that require care on either of these days.

I will be taking some Long Service Leave for the first two weeks of Term 4. Kate McLeod will be the Acting Principal in my absence. I wish all of our Rangeview Community a safe and restful Spring break and we look forward to seeing you all back for another Term of learning and fun on Monday 7th October.

The school we have is the one we build together.
