Reflection on Peace

SCRIPTURE

John 14:27 states “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful.”

REFLECTION

“Peace is made with our hands”. It is not only built by the powerful "with their choices and their international treaties,” we too can build peace, "in our homes, in the family, among neighbours, in our workplaces, in the neighbourhoods where we live".

Pope Francis

PRAYER – Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;

where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,

grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;

to be understood, as to understand;

to be loved, as to love;

for it is in giving that we receive,

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen.

Mazenod Mission Day (MMD) 2024

In between days of rain, we managed to have a beautiful sunny day for this year’s MMD on Thursday, 15 August. This year MMD is raising money for Oblate Schools in both Bangladesh and India. The Oblates choose to educate some of the poorest children in these countries so that they can have real-life chances through education. As always MMD was dedicated to Mary Immaculate, with the whole school community participating in the Feast of the Assumption Mass first thing in the morning.

After MMD was launched this year by College Principal, Mr Harvey, students and staff ran a variety of food and drink stalls including pulled pork, waffles, fairy floss and milkshakes. Students also enjoyed activities such as Mario Bros, Chase the Ace and Gladiator. Overall the staff and students enjoyed a wonderful day of fun activities in the name of a good cause.

A heartfelt thank you to all families, students and staff who contributed to the success of MMD. As always it was a fantastic whole of school community event. So far the amount raised is sitting at just over $18,000. A total of $7650 comes from donations from our very supportive families. We will shortly conclude this year’s appeal and I am confident that we will reach the target of $20,000. All money raised will be sent via MAMI to the Oblates in Bangladesh and India by the end of the year.
