The 2024 AFL Home and Away season finished with a compelling and enthralling final.
The six games played pretty much went to script and I imagine most people had 6/6. All three Sunday games were games where you could have gone either way and the finish in the Carlton v St Kilda game will stay in the memory for some time. As it turned out we had four people who got 9/9 with another 23 people picking eight winners. Of those that picked nine, Steve Greenwood (Class of 1982) was closest to the margin (four points) in Collingwood’s comprehensive win over Melbourne and as such is this week’s winner of the $50. Congratulations Steve.
With regard to overall final standings of the Mazenod Old Boys 2024 Footy Tipping Competition, I am pleased to announce that Santino Giancono (Proud Dad of Jack – Class of 2020 and Harry – Class of 2024) is our convincing winner with an incredible score of 145 and as such wins $1,000. Santino has had a great year, winning two weekly prizes, leading since Round 16, and holding his nerve to win fairly comfortably. Congratulations Santino!
The race for second place came down to the very last game of the season, with Cherie Fry, who has been in the top three all season, backing Fremantle while Steve Greenwood (Class of 1982) went for Port Adelaide. Unfortunately for Cherie and all Fremantle fans, Port Adelaide got up to win and hand Carlton a spot in the finals (must have been a real rollercoaster day for Blues fans). As such, Steve finished second on 141 and won $400 with Cherie falling to third but still winning $200. Congratulations to you both for the fantastic seasons.
