PIANO ANYONE?????????

Today Cristina and I had a visit from a lovely former parishioner, Mary, who now lives in Kew with her 101 year old husband! 

They are downsizing to a smaller house and she is giving away her family's piano - She thought of our Sacred Heart School community to offer it to first - so if you are interested please send me an email or call the office ASAP and we can put you in touch with Mary. 

The piano does need tuning and costs to move it, will be incurred on whoever wants it - but it is a beautiful piano that all her children learnt the piano on and it is FREE!

WELLBEING NEWS - MAGIC MONDAY AFTERNOONS

Our exciting new learning initiative began on Monday afternoon at Sacred Heart - from all reports from students and teachers involved it was a great success!

So what happens during Magic Monday afternoons? 

The Year 1 - 5 students take part in a range of learning experiences that they have selected. So throughout the term, students will take part in 3 different experiences, spending 3 weeks on each rotation. 

The learning experiences include: Lego masters, cooking, painting, art, gardening, Blue Earth games and Yarn Craft. 

These experiences we hope will provide students time together mixing with children from different classes, hands on learning, a focus on conversation, a chance for students to have a voice and a choice about their learning, practice social skills and an emphasis on wellbeing....and also have lots of fun!  

Here is some photos of our Lego masters group - we worked in teams to build the tallest towers and began a house/building design challenge. There were a lot of budding engineers discussing how to build our Lego towers so they would survive a wobble test! It was lots of fun.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATON: MISSION MONTH - SOCKTOBER

As part of Mission Month, Sacred Heart will take part in a Socktober eventandraise funds for Mongolia, Catholic Mission's country project for 2024.  

Students will take part in a soccer shoot out on Thursday 24th of October and are asked to make a gold coin donation on this day. 

 What is Socktober?

Socktober for Mission Month cultivates the passion of students to rise up, engage their local community, and take action against poverty through the world game of soccer.

 It provides young people in Australia with the opportunity to lead in mission, encouraging them to think not only of what they will do to help, but why they will do it.

This utilised the Social Justice teaching model of Head, Heart and Hands.

Head: Expand students' understanding of global issues by immersing them in the reality of children in developing countries using our rich resources and learning pathways.

Heart: Inspire love and compassion in students through 360 virtual reality experiences, first-hand storytelling, and formation activities that connect them with the people we support.

Hands: Encourage students to take action by praying, advocating, and providing financial support to children in need, using their hands to make a real impact.
