Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart Community,

Prayer

Please be aware that I will continue to be on sick leave until next Friday 17th October. During this time Antoinette will be Acting Principal. Please forgive me if I am a little tardy in answering any emails during this time. I would like to announce the following before Antoinette completes this section of the newsletter:

New Out Of School Care Provider

I was contacted whilst on my pilgrimage that we will be one of the first schools that Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools will take on the responsibility for our Before and After School Care with MACSEYE. I have contacted Youth Leadership Victoria to notify them that their contact will end at the conclusion of the 2024 school year. As I  get more information about our new provider  MACSEYE I will share it with the community.

Olivia Newton John  Wellness Centre

Today one of our school leaders, Alex Mateski, ventured with his mum, Tania and our school Vice Principal, Antoniette, to deliver a cheque for $ 4, 300 dollars! This massive amount of fundraising was due to the efforts of Alex, who recognises that the Centre is close to his heart  as both his uncle and grandfather were there when the y were sick with cancer. "I've been gobsmacked by the massive response of everyone at our school. The money raised will help people in need, which is why I wanted to do it".

It has been amazing watching Alex grow throughout this fundraiser. He first floated the idea with Mark a long time ago, spent hours organising the fundraiser, which included involving the whole school participate in a walkathon. Congratulations Alex on making a real difference to those affected by this awful illness. Great work!!

2025 Foundation Students - Day 2

Meet our amazing new students .......

Marianna is in Year 2 and Kaone in Year 4

Grill'd Northland - Donation to Sacred Heart

I was premature in announcing our sponsorship with Grilled Northland for the month of September. It is actually during the month of November. As mentioned in previous newsletters, Grill'd Northland have chosen our school as a community partner. During November all customers are given a token to place in the jar of the community partner they would most like to support. The community partner with the most tokens is given a valuable financial reward. As someone who likes his burgers, I can recommend the Grilled Zen Hen!

Please see our Community News page for an exciting offer from Grill'd!

After School Cricket Clinics

Please be aware that there is a slight change to the after school cricket clinics as Monday week is a school closure day. These clinics (free of charge) were a huge success last year with over forty students participating. Michael from Cricket Victoria will be available  in the school yard at 3.20 next Wednesday to answer any questions

Mission Mass - Talent Show (after Mass in the school MPR)

Sunday 20th October - keep the date with details to follow

School Closure Days - Monday 21st October and Monday 4th November

Have a great week!

Yours Sincerely

Mark and Antoniette
