Head of Primary School

Mount Evelyn Christian School is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic and motivated Head of Primary School. This is a full-time position, commencing 16 January, 2025.

We would like the successful applicant to wholeheartedly join a team implementing a distinctively biblical approach to education.

 

Key selection criteria

  • Demonstrate exemplary skills in establishing effective working relationships with staff, students and parents
  • Exhibit a genuine Christian faith, biblical foundation and active Christian lifestyle
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership and management skills to achieve educational and organisational goals
  • Possess a sound knowledge of current educational practices and teaching from a Christian worldview perspective
  • Must be VIT registered.

  • Be in agreement with, and actively commit to, the Christian ethos and Core Values as expressed in the MECS ‘Focus on Identity’ document.

Secondary Science and Maths Teacher

Mount Evelyn Christian School is seeking a dynamic VCE Physics and Maths Teacher. This is a negotiable position (0.65 – 0.8 FTE), commencing 22 January 2025.

 

This position could suit a new graduate or experienced Science/Maths teacher. All levels of experience are welcome. We would like the successful applicant to wholeheartedly join a team implementing a distinctively biblical approach to education.

 

Key selection criteria

  • Must have capacity to teach VCE Physics (essential)
  • Capability to teach Specialist Maths will be highly regarded but is not essential.
  • Passionate about Maths and Science and able to inspire students.
  • Is able to articulate a Christian perspective for learning and shapes curriculum and pedagogy accordingly.
  • Can pursue innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
  • VIT registration to teach.

VCE Vocational Major Coordinator & Teacher

Mount Evelyn Christian School is seeking a committed VCE VM Coordinator and Teacher. This is a full time position (0.25 FTE Coordinator, 0.75 FTE Teacher), commencing 22 January 2025.

 

The VCE VM Coordinator will be responsible for developing and coordinating the VCE Vocational Major Program, facilitating an engaging environment for VCE VM Students & providing them with the necessary resources and ample opportunities to flourish. 

This role requires practical knowledge &/or experience in the following key areas:

  • Leading the development, documentation, and implementation of the VCE Vocational Major Curriculum for Years 11 & 12.
  • Working closely with the Careers Coordinator and Student Support Team to provide advice to students, parents, and staff regarding VCE Vocational Major Pathways to facilitate informed decision making.
  • Working with students of varying ability levels including collaborating with Learning support to ensure students with additional needs are supported.
  • Supervising and monitoring the progress of VCE Vocational Major students, ensuring early identification of those at risk.
  • Planning and Delivery of biblical perspectives integrated into subject areas and teaching across multiple VCEVM study designs; VM Literacy, VM Workplace Skills, VM Personal Development.
  • Supporting the professional growth and capacity building of teachers in the learning area, providing feedback to strengthen their development. 

Key selection criteria

  • VM or VET experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Education
  • Registration as a qualified educator (VIT)
  • Level 2 First Aid, First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis & Asthma (or ability to acquire) 
  • A proven record of or ability to implement education programs and meet the needs of a diverse range of learners.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills 
  • Highly developed Information Communication and Technology skills

Primary Indonesian Teacher 2025

Mount Evelyn Christian School is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic and capable teacher of Prep to Year 6 Indonesian. This is a negotiable position (0.6 – full-time FTE), commencing 22 January 2025.

This position could suit a new graduate or experienced Indonesian teacher.

  • Passionate about Indonesian and able to inspire young students and other teachers to learn Indonesian.
  • Fluent in Indonesian with good insight into Indonesian culture.

Contemporary/Jazz Piano Teacher

Mount Evelyn Christian School is seeking an experienced, passionate, enthusiastic and skilled piano teacher commencing as soon as possible. This is a fixed contract until the end of the 2024 school year and could suit a new graduate or an experienced teacher.

The applicant should be suitably qualified, have previous experience in a similar role and teach in a way that keeps students motivated and well organised. They must be able to teach piano in the genre of contemporary music, including jazz, improvisation, modern worship and other popular modern music genres. The successful applicant will be able to teach notation, theory and chord charts.

Casual Relief Teachers and Potential Short-Term Contracts in Term 4, 2024.

Mount Evelyn Christian School is seeking applicants for Casual Relief Teachers to cover Secondary School. Casual Relief Teachers are generally engaged at short notice, usually for a half-day or full day, and occasionally several days at a time. New graduates and experienced teachers are welcome to apply.

 

There is also the potential of requiring short-term contracts in Maths, English, Humanities and Learning Intervention throughout the year. We would love to hear from dedicated teachers interested in these roles also.
