Focus on Learning
Clarity-What Matters MOST in Learning, Teaching, and Leading
Last week the leadership team at St Joey's were able to spend two professional development days with Lyn Sharratt. The focus of the sessions was on building teacher and leader capacity to increase student achievement and growth in an ongoing, sustainable way.
In our Diocese we have been using Lyn's 14 parameters in our schools and the success of this has shown in our data.
Lyn spoke about the learning space, which we call the Third Teacher, this is where students access support in their learning through clearly displayed Learning Intentions, co-constructed Success Criteria, anchor charts for learning support, and Bump-It-Up Walls. You can see how we are currently doing this in our classrooms below.
Every student will be able to tell you what they are learning and how they are going. The teachers also have been using bump it up walls so that the teacher and students can assess where they are up to in their learning journey and the next steps.
