R U OK Day
Year 11 and 12 VCE-VM Personal Development Skills class took it upon themselves to plan and organise events for RU OK? Day.
All term we have been learning about being a part of a community and what our role is in our community. Our aim for the RU Ok? Day project was to help spread awareness about mental health and increase the engagement in our school community. This project seeks to address reluctance to speak about mental health and provide students with an opportunity to seek help, support and information. Personal development students came up with activities to run throughout the day including running a market stall which was all student hand made items that consisted of coasters, tie die bags and stress balls. The market also sold sausages, raffle tickets, donated items, information and were joined by a stall helf by local MH service provider, NESAY. All profits made for the day went to the RU OK organisation. Other activities being held throughout the day was a community football match -staff vs students, which was a lot of fun, a quiet area for sensory activities such as slime making and RU OK Day education recourses which were provided to be distributed in homeroom. Our class had a lot of fun running the stalls and connecting our school community to spread awareness on mental health. It was a successful day.
Year 9 SEAL Mathematics
Year 9 SEAL Maths students were introduced to the concept of parallel and perpendicular lines and how that relates to their gradient.
Students were then able to go outside and draw their own using chalk.
