Hello from our students and teachers
Respect, Responsibility and Kindness
Wow! What a great first term at Bendigo Primary! Our class has been very busy building connections, learning and growing. During Investigation Time we have explored many different areas. We have worked alongside and with others, expanded our imagination and creativity, begun learning to negotiate ideas, developed our self-confidence, problem solving and strengthened our ability to concentrate, be persistent and resilient.
Literacy
Our class has been having fun learning all about letters and their corresponding sounds, what a word is, and what makes a sentence. We have been doing lots of rhyming and segmenting words into syllables. Our class LOVES books and we have enjoyed reading lots of different stories throughout the term. One of our favourite stories is 'The Very Hungry Bear'. Here are some pictures of our favourite parts of the story:
We have been working on our letter formation and writing simple sentences. Mrs Q got us all to pick an animal out of a bag and we drew a picture of it and wrote a sentence.
Numeracy
In maths we have had lots of opportunities to learn and experience numbers including counting, identifying numbers, and understanding quantity. These experiences help build our understanding and fluency with numbers. We love playing maths games like this one called 'The Teddy Race' Mrs Q gave us a dice, gameboard and 6 teddies and we had to use our 'Superhero subitising eyes' to see how many dots we rolled on the dice without counting. The teddies were racing to the finish line but could only move if we rolled their number 1-6. subitising with dice dots from 1 to 6. It was lots of fun!
Our favourite things at school this term have been:
Zaria: Playing with my friends Evelyn: Playing in the garden
Ollie: Buddies and Art Rylan: Playing with the trains
Noah: Playing basketball Hannah: Going to assembly
Sydney: Going to assembly
We are looking forward to having a big rest over the holiday break and coming back to school to experience some new and exciting adventures in Term 2!
