Cultural Connections

Joint Nature Garden & Cultural Connections Project

Earlier this week, we marked the beginning of an exciting joint nature garden project involving our Cultural Connections students, Nature Play SA, and additional students interested in gardening. To commemorate this special occasion, we were honored to have Kauwanu (Uncle) Tamaru lead a smoking ceremony and share his profound wisdom about our community and connection to the land.

The smoking ceremony was a powerful and meaningful way to start the project, emphasising the importance of respecting and understanding the land we are working with. Uncle Tamaru’s insights provided a deeper appreciation of our environment and the cultural significance of our connection to it.

We are eagerly looking forward to this being the start of a great working relationship as we collaborate to establish a beautiful native garden near the entrance of the school.

This garden will not only enhance the school’s landscape, it will also serve as a living testament to the importance of cultural connections and environmental stewardship.

Stay tuned for more updates as this project progresses
