WELLBEING WEDNESDAYS AT ABERFOYLE COMMUNITY CENTRE
*YOUTH MENTOR SUPPORT LEADER APPLICATIONS OPEN NOW!
Are you a young person aged 16 to 25 and want to be a part of an awesome volunteer leadership and learning opportunity? Do you want to help create something amazing for young people at your local community centre?
Wellbeing Wednesdays is a term time program held at Aberfoyle Community Centre supporting young people aged 13-17 with the tools to build resilience, learn new skills and have open conversations around mental health. The project is founded on a peer support model with a focus on creating a fun, vibrant space where young people with shared experiences can connect. That’s where youcome in!
Youth Mentor Support Leaders will attend the Wellbeing Wednesday sessions to first of all – make the place a great space to hangout and have fun! We want young people to be able to drop in after school and feel relaxed and know they are supported.
Youth Mentor Support Leaders will get to brainstorm youth program activities, help shape Aberfoyle Community Centre’s new facility as well as slowly build rapport with the young participants that take part in the program.
As a Youth Mentor Support Leader, you will receive training and support to undertake the Teen Mental Health First Aid course, Child Safe Environments training and other professional development opportunities.
All Youth Mentor Support Leaders will have support from City of Onkaparinga Youth Team staff at every session.
If you’re keen to make a difference in your community and think this role sounds like you – apply online here
