Week 8, Term 3

Physical Education

Prep PE

Students will participate in a tennis clinic, facilitated by a local tennis coach.  

 

Prep Sensory

In this week’s Sensory Gym sessions, students will enjoy a selection of activities and exercises designed to improve their balance, core strength and hand-eye coordination.

 

Grade 1 and 2

Students will participate in a tennis clinic, facilitated by a local tennis coach.  

 

Grade 3 and 4

Students will commence a unit on the sport of Touch Rugby. This week, students will be introduced to the key skills of the game, including passing, kicking, running and dodging. 

 

Grade 5 and 6

This week, we will focus on the sport of Touch Rugby. Students will revise the key skills of the game, including passing, kicking, running and dodging. They will be encouraged to monitor their technique and accuracy when rehearsing these skills.

Visual Arts

Prep

Students will begin looking at the life cycle of a caterpillar. Over the next couple of weeks they will be creating a 3D butterfly. This week they will stuff a stocking and twist pipe-cleaners to make it’s body and legs. 

 

Grade 1 and 2

Students will begin the process of making a loom from the paper plate they painted last week. They will attach the ‘warp’ before beginning weaving the ‘weft’.

 

Grade 3 and 4

Students will make a collar for their clay dog and finish a blanket showcasing their running stitch skills. 

 

Grade 5 and 6

Students will be continuing with their monochromatic collage and when completed, choose a silhouette image to cut out and trace onto their collage before painting the negative space white.

Performing Arts

Prep

Students are continuing to rehearse for the concert in their Performing Arts classes. They will  practise their character lines and the blocking of their scene, as well as the songs they will perform. Students should have their script, music tracks and more to help them rehearse at home with you. Thanks for your support! 

 

Grade 1 and 2

With the Olympic and Paralympic Games offering the chance to learn about different countries and cultures, students will continue to learn about different dances and music from around the world. This week students will finish their Chinese Lion puppet and create a short dance performance with it.  

 

Grade 3 and 4

Students are wrapping up their dance unit on breaking and are soon moving into their music learning. To bridge these curriculum areas, students will use GarageBand and its instruments and loops to create a track that they can perform a breaking routine to. 

 

Grade 5 and 6

Auslan

Prep

Prep students will be revising and consolidating their knowledge of animal signs in Auslan. For this term’s snapshot, students will view an image full of pet animals and sign what they see in the picture.

 

Grade 1 and 2

Grade 1 and 2 students will be consolidating their knowledge of fruit and vegetables signs and completing their learning snapshot for this term. They will be signing their favourite and least favourite fruits and vegetables.

 

Grade 3 and 4

Students will be completing this terms' learning snapshot. They will be video recording themselves describing three friends or three family members. They will use the fingers on their non-signing hand to help identify and refer to each person as they sign about them.

 

Grade 5 and 6

Students will be completing their learning snapshot for this term. They will be recording themselves describing the floor plan of a fictional house, identifying how many rooms and the types of rooms in the house. 

STEM

This week students across the school will continue to apply what they have learnt this term to their science project. Students will continue to research, design, create and test a product that solves the following challenges. 

 

Grade 1 and 2  

Students will use their knowledge from researching water filters to begin creating and building their very own water filters. 

 

Grade 3 and 4  

Students will continue to design and build their vehicles after completing their extensive research and planning. 

 

Grade 5 and 6  

Students will continue to design and create a 3D model of their choice, showcasing their knowledge from Term 3.
